I've had my VM Iphone 4S since December, and my DD has had hers since the beginning of May. Here's a few things I've learned:
I had HUGE issues with battery drainage the first 3-4 weeks (i.e. my phone would barely last 4-5 hours). So much so, in fact, that I made a Genius bar appointment at the Apple Store. He ran some type of test and told me that my Facebook app was draining my battery. He says sometimes you can get a bad download. I tried deleting it and re-installing, and it didn't help, so I did a complete re-set of my phone via ITunes. That seemed to help, along with the other tips he gave me below for saving your battery.
Location services on your phone will also drain your battery. I only leave location services on 24/7 for the mapping. I turn all other location services off unless I need them (i.e. Facebook while on vacation, because we love to post pictures of places we are at while we are there). I also turned Siri off because I really don't use her. We had fun with her at first, lol (asking crazy questions, haha), but the novelty wore off. And again, battery drain. Also, I was manually selecting the brightness and I had it pretty high. Again, according to the Apple guy, huge battery drain. I put it on auto-brightness. It did take a while to get used to, but once I did, it worked fine for me. Also, make sure to turn OFF the apps you aren't using. Just exiting them doesn't turn them off. Double tap the round button on the bottom, and it will bring up all the open apps. Hit the little "x" to turn them off. This will save your battery.
Since I've been doing these things, I've had no more battery issues. My phone can go a day and a half without a recharge now, and I used it a LOT during the day (Facebook, internet, texting).
I don't really use any apps, other than checking the weather, the
Amazon app, and an app from our library I can use to put books on hold, etc. When I go to WDW or DL I do download the official Disney app, but take it off after the trip. More apps equals more battery usage. lol
I love my phone. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too!
