Just bought the iphone 4s replacing the Optimus V. Any advice, tips, recommended apps to keep me happy with my new purchase? I have no idea how to use it!!!!! Also, I got the iphone because I was having phone storage issues with my android phone and sometimes wasn't able to receive texts because my storage space was low. Hoping I don't have any issues with my new iphone. :)

I switched from virgin mobile to t-mobile recently and I had the Optimus v on virgin and found the storage issue a problem as well. I also switched to the iPhone 4S. No issues with storage. I don't have any tips but play with it and I'm sure you will like it.

I hit post too soon and had to edit. Sorry if my response looked short at first!

We got DD the iPhone 4s for Christmas and she uses VM, no problems and she loves it. She seemed to know exactly how to use it.

I had the exact same phone and exact same issue. I switched back in December and haven't had any problems! Love my iPhone. Plus now I can group text with my friends that also have iPhones. With the Optimus, I had to reply to each person individually which sucked.

Apps I love:
Phrase Friends
Draw Something
Ruzzle

iBotta (money back on groceries)
ShopSavvy (scan at store to find better deals in store and online)
Target Cartwheel (for Target deals/coupons)
ShopKick (earn points towards gift cards)

Facebook
Google and Google Maps (Apple's map app sucks)
Weatherbug
Pandora
Pinterest
Shazam (music app that listens and tells you what song/artist)
My Disney Experience
Disney World Wait Times (WDW Waits?)
MyFitnessPal

Camera+
Photogene
Snapseed

I also have the Optimus V and have been thinking on going to the iPhone. I'll be watching this thread!

Again, same reasons as above: Storage issue is super annoying as is the non-ability to send/receive group texts. The phone is actually pretty decent, but VM loads it with so much bloatware its ridiculous.

Exactly! Useless apps that take up space. So annoying!

The bloatware issue is commonplace at VM, as well as sister brands Boost Mobile, and Sprint.

As iPhones go, there shouldn't be any bloatware issues, at all.

I am now using a Samsung Galaxy SII on VM -- one month in, and no real issues to be found (as I was able to get-around some of the bloatware when I set-up my phone)...

Can someone tell me how to change the title of my post? I am shocked that I haven't gotten many reply's and I wonder if its because of Virgin Mobile being part of the title. I am interested in more info on the Iphone.

I don't know how to do it on the app. On the web, after you click edit for your post, there is another button -advanced edit, maybe?- and if you click that it brings up the title bar so you can change that as well.

thank you :thumbsup2

The only time I've runout of storage was when I had too many pictures and video I hadn't downloaded.

It is fairly simple use, but it seems my DD is always showing me something new. I enjoy using Siri for texting. You can also ask Siri everyday questions like what the score of the ball game is and what the weather forecast is, etc., and she'll answer you.

I think the 4S and 5 take good pictures and video. You can view some pics in the link in my signature. Really fun to do panoramics very simply.

Have fun with your new phone! Oh, almost forgot. Generally you get an email from Apple after you buy a new phone to familiarize you with it. Keep your eye out for it, or look it up online

I've had my VM Iphone 4S since December, and my DD has had hers since the beginning of May. Here's a few things I've learned:

I had HUGE issues with battery drainage the first 3-4 weeks (i.e. my phone would barely last 4-5 hours). So much so, in fact, that I made a Genius bar appointment at the Apple Store. He ran some type of test and told me that my Facebook app was draining my battery. He says sometimes you can get a bad download. I tried deleting it and re-installing, and it didn't help, so I did a complete re-set of my phone via ITunes. That seemed to help, along with the other tips he gave me below for saving your battery.

Location services on your phone will also drain your battery. I only leave location services on 24/7 for the mapping. I turn all other location services off unless I need them (i.e. Facebook while on vacation, because we love to post pictures of places we are at while we are there). I also turned Siri off because I really don't use her. We had fun with her at first, lol (asking crazy questions, haha), but the novelty wore off. And again, battery drain. Also, I was manually selecting the brightness and I had it pretty high. Again, according to the Apple guy, huge battery drain. I put it on auto-brightness. It did take a while to get used to, but once I did, it worked fine for me. Also, make sure to turn OFF the apps you aren't using. Just exiting them doesn't turn them off. Double tap the round button on the bottom, and it will bring up all the open apps. Hit the little "x" to turn them off. This will save your battery.

Since I've been doing these things, I've had no more battery issues. My phone can go a day and a half without a recharge now, and I used it a LOT during the day (Facebook, internet, texting).

I don't really use any apps, other than checking the weather, the Amazon app, and an app from our library I can use to put books on hold, etc. When I go to WDW or DL I do download the official Disney app, but take it off after the trip. More apps equals more battery usage. lol

I love my phone. I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too! :)

I don't have the 4s but the 5. Got them for the kids too. We love them. I have no problems with storage. I have 2 full movies, many apps, lots of audiobooks and snooks. Videos & pics. Etc

The only time I had issues with the charge was at wdw. I ran out of battery early. We need to have a list of places to charge your phones at wdw on the dis!

I had the 3GS for 2.5 years with ATT. I just switched to VM and now have an LG Optimus Elite.

I am happy that I am saving money each month through VM, and I am happy with their service. I love that I have 'unlimited' data.

I HATE the phone though.

It is not NEARLY as user friendly as the iPhone.

My favorite iPhones that I used:

Words with Friends
Ruzzle
Hanging with Friends
Pandora
Facebook
Pinterest
Two Peas In a Bucket (scrapbooking)
Instagram
Peek A Boo Farm / Wild (Kids app)
Nike (to track my runs)
Google Maps
Ebay
Netflix
Hulu
Amazon

Those were the ones that I used most frequently. Good luck and I hope you love your new phone. I can't wait to save up the money to get myself one to use on Virgin Mobile!! I REALLY, REALLY miss my iPhone. :worried:

I had an android, switched to the 3GS, now back to Android and will never switch again... I have dumped all my iProducts, iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone and am strickly android now. My phone is the BLU Studio 5.3 II, has a 5.3 inch screen, plenty of viewing space, the same size as the Galaxy Note. I love my phone. The fact that I am not restricted to one app market makes all the difference in the world to me.

I went from iPhone 4 to the Samsung galaxy 3..:: worst 2 months of my life. I'm back to iPhone!!
