iPhone 4S Charging Cords

Anyone have any suggestions on cords that will charge an iPhone 4S? The ones that came with the phones are not working any longer. I ordered some off of Amazon but most of those stopped working after only a few weeks. Thanks for any suggestions!

After owning uncountable numbers and types of i-device cords in the 10 years we've been buying these Apple products, I recommend :

1. Buying the name brand cords direct from apple.com or in the Apple store and
2. Reinforcing the pressure points near the plug ends with some sugru. http://sugru.com

This is the way to get the best charging and longest life out of the cords.

We occasionally still buy some cheap extra long cords from third party sellers, but they are really flimsy and don't last long.

I gotta agree that the best cords are the ones that come from Apple (downside is that stuff is like buying gold). I have some cheap-o cords that either quit working completely, work intermittently etc...

If the cords from Apple were any good, people wouldn't have to replace them as quickly as they are.

I bought a reinforced cord that looks similar to a bungee cord, without the cheap plastic covering like the Apple cords have. It has worked great.

If you need one right away, just go to Walmart and get one of their cheap generic ones. We've had ours for quite awhile and so far it's lasted longer than the one from Apple. We have the Iphone 5. If you don't see it, just ask someone in that department. The Walmart by me had them behind the desk where the iphones are kept.

I've never had an Apple-manufactured cord stop working - I still have the FireWire 30-pin cable the original iPods used. I stopped buying the cheap knockoffs years ago, except for last fall when I forgot my iPad cable on a business trip and had to buy a no-namer at a train station. It worked for three days and then shorted out. I took the connector apart when I got home and the internal components were trashed. YMMV.

Also: don't yank on your cords, regardless of what kind you use. Disconnect them by grasping the connector and pulling steadily. Not saying you, OP, do this - but it does lead to the early death of lots of charging cords.

Surprisingly, our newest Apple cords are the worst. I have only had my ipad a few months and the cord is already starting to wear where it plugs into the device. I am the only one that uses that cord and it has never been yanked or twirled. I always disconnect carefully, but the cheap plastic is still starting to fray. That is why I won't buy an Apple replacement.

My dd's iphone5 charger stopped working, so she bought one made by Griffin that has a lifetime warranty. Good thing since that one stopped working too. Right now she is using my ds's ipad charger because the cheap one I bought for her doesn't work on her phone (but works on ds's ipad).
I'm not sure if the 4s has the same charger but these issues are not uncommon.
