I just got an iPad a few days ago for my Birthday and I'm still getting used to it of course. Part of my problem is that we currently do not have WiFi at home, although DH is getting the...router??...as soon as he can, I think after his next paycheck.

Anyway...any great accessories to go along with your iPad? Best prices on products, especially the screen protectors?

I have nothing extra to go with it yet, so I'm starting from the beginning.

Concentrate on the wifi.

I use the otterbox defender case. Nice protection for the screen and it's nonslip. So it won't slide around.

But I'd get the wifi going first. Unless you have the 3G.

The only accessories I have purchased are a wrap around case for taking it out of the house, a plastic snap on case for around the house, and the phone adapter kit so that I can download my photos to my iPad.

I love my Zagg Mate cover. it protects my screen and has a build in blue tooth key board so I can type. The battery lasts for about 2 weeks to a month and can be recharged with the iPad adapter. I bought mine at Best Buy for $100.

Yeah, we should be getting the wifi soon, and I know that will make things a bit easier.

Thanks, I'll look those things up.

I agree with the otterbox thing, if I had an iPad I probably wouldn't use it until I got an otterbox for it.

iPads are A LOT sturdier than most people realize. Back when they were first introduced last year there seemed to be video after video on youtube of people TRYING to destroy the iPads. A very difficult task. Anyhow... I have a leather cover I use when I take it in my bag (not often) and a base stand for around the house that holds it upright while on a flat surface for watching Netflix, etc. I have no screenguard.

Congrats on your present! They are a lot of fun! :thumbsup2

If you go with the Otterbox, the Macmall website has the defender case for $50 which includes free shipping (it's normally $90). I was debating about getting it, but it just seemed too big and bulky for me, I was worried about adding weight to the iPad. But that seems to be the cheapest I've seen it for so far! I bought an iPod a few years ago from them, and saw the cases advertised in the newsletter, so I'm not sure if that is a sales price or everyday price?

I just have a regular folio-type case on mine, by incase. I've had mine since Sept, and it's actually very durable and has protected very well. Knock on wood! Other than a travel-sized chamois cloth to wipe away the fingerprints and a little stylus for drawing, I have not felt I needed any other accessories so far. And my iPad goes everywhere with me!

I did buy the Zagg screen protector, but I'm really hesitant to even bother putting it on. The glass of the screen is really so responsive, I would hate to lose that sensitivity, and the threat of bubbles under the plastic would drive me insane! ;)

I won my iPad in December. I immediately bought a Belkin leather folio from Target, $15 down from $60. I really like the case, it has a microfiber inside. I also just got a plastic screen protector, but what a waste of money that one was. It was hard to read the screen and kept picking up my kitty hair. Oh well. If anyone knows of a good one, I'd appreciate it.

I bought the Otterbox Defender case and I love it. I got it from Amazon and paid about $49 for it. Well, worth the price. The one I got has a stand that attaches to the back of the case so it will stand up. We use our iPad as a picture frame when it isn't in use. It stands on the shelf and scrolls though the pictures I have downloaded. Definitely get the WiFi. My other main use for the iPad is as an eReader. I have the Nook, Kindle and iBook app on it. I have read more books in the past couple of months than I did in the past year.

Here is the link for the Otterbox I ordered:

I agree with the screen protectors, don't waste your money. DH bought one for $30 and took it back off in less than a day, couldn't stand the feel of it.

Have fun! DH and I each have one and we love them!

The keyboard dock from Apple is great! IMHO, it's a must if you plan on doing any extended typing on the iPad.

Has anyone gotten the clamcase to use with your ipad? I'm in the process of deciding if I even want an ipad and had looked at the clamcase to go with it. I remember reading a thread similar to this a few weeks ago and the clamcase was mentioned.

The otterbox comes with a screen protector. I had no issues installing or using it. No bubbles either.

I bought an iPad for my wife and these are the two cases it has on it and I wouldn't change either one of them for the world.
First case is the SwitchEasy Nude (I found it cheapest on Amazon). It's a thin (1mm) case made of basically LExan. It's available in a variety of colors or clear. That's what she used all by itself for a while.
Then this year for Christmas I bought her the iPad Bluetooth Keyboard case from ThinkGeek.com. This was a life and time saver for her. It's a nice faux leather case that allows the iPad to be used stand alone OR can be set up to use the included Bluetooth Keyboard. The keyboard has a really nice feel to it and really saves time when she's doing email, word docs, or the sort.
Because the Nude case is so thin, the iPad slipped into the other case with no problem with the other case still on.

Just my 2-cents for what they're worth.

Get a wireless router. You'll be good. I have a wrap around case and a screen protector. That's all the accessories. I'm thinking about getting the keyboard eventually but it's not a necessity. I got all my stuff on Amazon for cheap.

Got mine for Xmas too. Santa gave me a case with a built in bluetooth keyboard from Brookstone. Love it...I can fold it as a stand too which makes it easy to read or use in kitchen for recipies, etc. I'm using it while I wait for my son at the ortho right now.
