Hi
since Halloween is on a Sat this year I have deicded to give my dd's and their cousins and friends a Halloween party.

My plan is to do a Mickey's not so scarey Halloween Party theme. with cute games the age of kids is 2 to 8.

Any idaes on cute inexpensive decorating ideas.

One thing I did was cut out bats made from black poster board, attach fishing line to them and push pin into my ceiling.

We also made a scientist lab. I lined plastic bowls with green garbage bags that I cut up and taped together to make a hole for hands. Then the kids put their hands in. Each one was labeled something gory - spagetti noodles were guts, grapes I peeled were eyes. Those are the 2 I remember off the top of my head.

I forgot to add that for one game we did pin the nose on the scarecrow. I drew a scarecrow onto several taped sheets of construction paper that I taped to a wall and then cut out a bunch of different noses that I drew. It was nice and cheap and the kids got a kick out of the really bad drawing job. LOL

We also decorated sugar cookies that I made but I wouldn't recommend that. What a huge mess that was. Yikes.

spider webbing goes for miles and is really cheap!! plus it comes with a spider or two...

Get some black craft paper from a teacher supply store. Cut a ghost shape out of it and fill in the cut out with wax paper. Tape these up to the inside of your windows. When it gets dark this creates a great shadow.

We had a halloween party two years ago and I used Martha Stewart's website and cut out stencils of rats on black poster board and stuck them on my stairs in the bathroom, etc.

For games and activities we got three baskets, like the old fashioned apple baskets and did a toss the bat game.

I also let the kids decorate their own goodie bags with halloween stickers.

We also got several bales of hay and tossed the hay with wrapped candy, this was a huge hit.

We also did a haunted garage. We got black plastic table cloths and hung them to cover one side of the garage and used our car top carrier as a coffin.

Thanks for the tips. I am hoping to make this a not scary halloween party like they do at WDW

Dollar Tree have a bunch of Halloween decorations that would be cute...and you can't beat the price. :thumbsup2

I'm not very crafty, but I do notice and appreciate the cute ones.

Over the years I've seen some clever Halloween decorations made from clean and empty plastic milk gallon jugs. They seem very easy to make. I remember a hanging skeleton and assorted luminaries. They use clear Xmas lights or all sorts of battery/ tap lights. Just google some key words and you'll find lots of these ideas.

Put tags with funny names on the food.

Another favorite is a lollipop, I like tootsie pops, cover with a white kleenex, tie a knot in orange or black ribbon (any kind ok, I use gift wrap ribbon) right under the lollipop. Draw a face with a marker and you have a cute ghost lollipop. There are lots of cute ways to arrange them, using the stick and containers with candy corn, m&m's etc.

Have a great time, the kid's will love it!

I actually found the directions on the milk jug skeleton and have been saving my milk jugs.

so do you guys think it would look okay to make some construction paper ears and put on the ghost?

I have 2 mickey pumpkins want to make one of them a Minnie. Just need to find a small witches hat or make a bow.

I was thinking of playing pin the nose on the Mickey Pumpkin. Drawing a Pumpkin with Mickey ears on Poster Board. A couple of other games I was thinking of was Pumpkin bowling, Pumpkin golf, bobing for apples but from string, maybe a bean bag toss, got to find some bean bags first. Seen tons of other game ideas.

Instead of apples tie mini donuts to the strings it makes for easier biting. Use the chocolate ones unless it is an outside party because the powered one make such a mess, (of cause the kids love the powered ones. the messier the better for them.) How about using a large easel for a Halloween Pictionary game.

our boys love playing "chunkin' pumpkin" each child gets a small pumpkin (like the mini-pumpkins) or gourd - as long as they are all about the same size, and then they each take turns at "chunkin' it" (tossing) - who ever tosses it the farthest wins.. but keep in mind.. larger, stronger kids can end up smashing their pumpkins if chunked to hard.. which can get messy. We have an open field next to our house so this is not a problem, the kids try to see who can make the biggest mess! :thumbsup2

just a suggestion if you cant find bean bags.. you probably have some scrap material around the house.. if not, just buy a teeny amount.. buy a few bags of dry pinto beans and cut out the material to the size that you want the bag to be.. then fill it with the beans and hand sew the bag up.. the material should be fairly cheap and if you buy storebrand beans that will be fairly cheap..

collect any older fashioned picture frames you have around the house, and then print out images on your computer to slip inside...old Civil war types, or look for Disney Halloween ones. Also mirrors can be cool. If you have a full length wall mirror, take it down and set it sideways on a shelf or dresser or boxes covered in old sheets. Set candles in front of the mirror, you do not have to light them, but if you spread the spider webs from the candles, to the mirror then up to the picture frames, sets a pretty Haunted Mansion -like scene. If you have games like Oujia Board set those out too. I dea is to use things you already have to cut costs and storage, just put them back where they were when you are done.
Our kids ikedplaying "trade up scaveneger hunt"..they are spli into teams and each team is given a paper clip. They then have to go to houses "trading-up" the paperclip to whatever they are given..they keep going until they have each gotten 5-10 items. My kids decided to have each group make up a scary story involving the item the end up with, it was pretty fun. If you do any apple games, maybe get the most of the apples to be green, like Granny Smitch, then one big, juicy red one, like in Snow White..maybe tie the Old Witch in there some how?
Use a black light, throw as many old white sheets as you can find and borrow over the furniture. We atke the regular light bulbsout of table lamps etc and replace them with black light bulbs for a stronger effect.
Set up a table of Mickeythe Mad Scientist...have cauliflower in a jar w/food coloring to be a brain, (items like ice tongs look funky when in a scientific setting)rubber snakes in another jar, spiders, plastic fingers, gooeyeyeballs from the party store...all for effect.

Have fun, we LOVE Halloween!

I was at Wmart this morning and saw a lot of disney themed stickers, pencils, & other mickey decor in the Halloween section, cheap too.

How about a black Mickey Head pinata out of black tissue paper & balloon, add some orange & black streamers to the bottom. An activity and candy all in one :).

We've done find the spiders in the hay(the black plastic ring ones----my friend cut all the ring parts off, I just used them with the ring part attached)
You can get a lot of them very inexpensively)Best to do outdoors on a tarp---they get to keep all the ones that they find and the one who finds the most gets a small prize(we let the little kids jump in first so they get a head start...)Makes for a lot of laughs!!!
