I think my DF and I have decided to make our own invitations to cut corners b/c of $$$. Has anyone on here made their own invitations. If you have...how did you go about this (I have never done anything like this). Where did you get your templates? Do you have pics of the invites that you can post? I would really love some advise:)

DH and I are graphic people, so if we were to do our own invites (I actually made our own thank you cards! Also our programs...), I would lay it out in Adobe Illustrator. Pick the font you want, images, etc. Print on a color laser printer on cardstock...

what type of invites are you looking to make, and are you trying to make them from scratch?

I made my own template for the programs and thank you cards. I got the cardstock from Kelly Paper...

I'll be happy to help if you have some kind of idea...

We went with ordered invites b/c I wanted the raised, embossed lettering...

I've posted my invite before...but, I made my own invitations. I made the leaf images myself by creating my own stamps...using a soft rubber stamp pad, and a wood carving knife...all bought at the art store. I then just used stamp inks to stamp the images on thick water color paper. I ordered the writing portion of the invitation from a stamp making company that I found online.

If you need any other advice or help, please let me know...:cutie:

You could try getting the print your own invitations that you can buy at Target or Walmart. They are very inexpensive and have links to online templates. All you do is design and print!

my brother and his wife did! it did save them money but it took a good bit of time. I can find out how they did it and let you know. they were really pretty. I think they just went to a craft store like hobby lobby and showed the people there what they wanted in an invitation and asked how could they do it. PM me if you want more details!

I'm sitting here at my computer, staring at this giant mickey stamp that I have:

You could totally go and get pre-scored postcards at Staples, print your info, then stamp and emboss this border! I'm eventually going to do this for some type of card (invites, christmas, etc, whatever...lol)...

:)

We didnt do invitations for the wedding in Disney, but we did make our own invitations for our at-home reception. We bought the kit at Walmart on sale for $4.00 for 50 invites+50 response cards with 100 envelopes that all went to a card. We bought quite a few boxes and printed them off. They had a website to use their template for them and we used our regular printer with ink. Nothing too fancy but it sure did save us a TON of money-- which really matters when you are paying for them yourself, ya know?
