am trying to DIY invitations using kits from michaels. though the package says there is a link for templates, i cant seem to find it on the makers website, nor am i finding things very easily (and for free!) for a mac.

my biggest issue is getting the dang cards to go through the printer. i have a relatively new HP printer with a lot of bells and whistles. i had a devil of a time with the STDs until a crafty friend mentioned using repositionable glue stick and attaching the odd sized card stock to the appropriate place on the paper and running it through. i was able to do that with my STDs, but the invite cards (which are more rectangular, but no thicker) are making me insane. i've chewed up 2 of them!!!

fortunately, we've only maybe 35 total invites to create but this idea in my head will require, i believe 2 passes thru the printer. at this rate i will go MAD!!!!!

any tips?

Check out your printer manual and see if there is a paper thickness lever inside the printer somewhere. Sometimes it's just a matter of preparing the printer for thicker paper. Also check that the paper width levers are in the right position to get the smaller cards off to a straight start. That's probably too easy though...if your luck is anything like mine. Good Luck!

i will do that!

i am now thinking that i am going to do only one printer pass (i am aiming for a faint, "hand colored" image behind the invitation writing and was obsessing over using pastel colored pencils over the black ink writing and if that would minimize the printing?) and then coloring the stuff in and black ink be damned!!!!
