Invisalign or traditional braces?

OP here. I did go with Invisalign and started last July. I am now on my refinements and love them! The first few days I had doubts. I had a hard time taking the trays out and had a slight lisp. They felt tight, but the pain wasn't bad. It really didn't take long to get used to them though. I currently have 12 attachments, but haven't had anyone ask me about them. My closest friends all knew I was getting them, but I had the trays in for a little over a week before anyone noticed I had started.

Quotes were $5000 to $5500 around here.

Anyone play an instrument while wearing invisalign? My son should have braces but doesn't want them because he thinks it will be more painful and/or harder to play the trumpet. This would be a great option.

Do you know if insurance can cover a portion of this amount?

Thanks for your review. I had metal braces for 2 1/2 years and my teeth have shifted since then for not wearing my retainer. Do you have to wear a retainer after you're all through with Invisalign?

My insurance covers about $2,000 toward any ortho treatment for ages 19 and younger. I didn't fall into that so I had to pay for my OOP. My teeth meant enough to me that I saved until I had the total amount because I didn't want to go on a payment plan.

My total price includes a retainer and I spoke with my provider. I chose to have the permanent retainer and also will purchase the Invisalign retainer. I have a friend who only wears her retainer at night and she's had no problems. I've grown so used to wearing my trays that I don't think a retainer would bother me much. I'm just happy and will do anything to keep my straight teeth.

My insurance covered half. I will need to wear a retainer when I am done, but I don't know what kind. It is included in the price.

I had shifting from grinding my teeth and did traditional braces in my 20s. They stained my teeth! Big regret! I would go with invisalign especially if it's coming out cheaper.
