Considering a 7 day cruise the week of Memorial Day 2007. I realize the rates and schedule is not yet announced, yet I read here that it would be helpful to fax "Inventory Control" with the room requests. Since we'll need several rooms, hopefully all in the same area, do you recommend this be done. We already have reservations for December, 2006 which were made when we were recently on the Magic to keep the discount and room credit. They were made with the full understanding that we would be switching them as soon as the 2007 rates/schedule is announced.

So, how do we go about doing this:
In the fax do we tell Inventory Control that we want the 7 day cruise departing Sunday before Memorial Day and then give them the exact # and type of rooms, including room #'s if a specific one is requested.

Then, when the new schedule and rates are announced this fall and we book will they reference the room hold that Inventory Control already has made?

Please advise all of you experienced cruisers! Thanks!

When we were considering the 10 day Christmas cruise, I faxed inventory control and specified the cruise, category and series of room numbers that I was interested in. When the dates opened up, I was contacted by someone at DCL with my reservation information and deposit requirements.

We booked onboard with Donna. She put us in Categories that were as close to what we wanted when they opened up the dates. We had a Cat1 and we booked a second cabin for my sil as a Cat3----which would be changed to a Cat2 once they opend up the dates (did it in 2004 for 2006). She then faxed a request for both cabins to inventory control; linked both requests; AND included our current reservation number to MOVE the reservation as opposed to making a new one. We were even open with the dates. We preferred 7/1 but would do anything past that date. We got a call that both reservations had been moved and they got their Cat 2 and everything was set. I didn't even have to call back to confirm unless I wanted to do so. I did of course.
So--it does benefit to fax inventory control--infact I am surprised they didn't when you made the original ressie. Just put as much info in as clear a way as possible. I would fax one for each cabin.
