Has anyone any opinions?

We have been to Cafe Mickey 3 times. The 1st time was fantastic. The 2nd time was the middle of summer, it was very busy, they had run out of soft drinks, the service was slow but the kids loved the characters - we did complain and got money off but it doesn't really compensate. The 3rd time we thought we would give them another chance but service was still slow and the food was cold but the kids don't notice these things.

I would like to try Inventions but I am a bit wary that it might be a bit stuffy. My kids love the characters and get a wee bit excited and wouldnt want to have to tell them be quiet.

What is the food like for kids?

Thanks in advance

I think lots will give very good reviews of Innventions. I'm glad we have done it but we were disappointed with the character interaction and felt that CM's were not attentive.
The food was lovely but the childrens choice of smile potatoes and chicken nuggets were not in keeping for this restaurant. DD who loves fine dining and seafood did very well. The other 2 have far great choices in other restaurants.
I may be in a minority, but Cafe Mickey would get my vote :thumbsup2
Although both restaurants are so different it may be hard to compare :)

DH is the one that is not keen on going back to Cafe Mickeys. He might compramise with a lunch time or we could try Lucky Nugget Saloon

That's the beauty of DLP there are so many choices. Having tried CM for a few times I'm sure you will love Inventions, Lucky Nugget etc etc :)

We have visited each of these restaurants once. And we would now always choose Inventions. The food is great! And we had many characters during our 2hour dinner! And the choise for children is in my opinion not limited. There is a special children buffett. And all the kids which we saw this evening loved the sweets buffet!
And don't forget the DLH is very magical and at Inventions you will have a view into the park! :wizard:

We did all three in december and , based on meal options, character interaction and service would put them in the following order and its suitability for an 8 year old with parents.

1. Lucky Nugget Character Lunch (arrive at 12 for the best seats) fab food and fantastic character interaction
2. CM (arrive at 6 for best service) Child friendly surroundings - food OK
3. Inventions (we were not impressed with food choices although surroundings and character interaction were great)

As a family we would do LN again but probably give the others a miss.

Thanks for that Sarah. We have been to DLP so many times but tend to stick to what we know best - especially with a 5 and 7 year old (5 year old doesn't sit down for long as he is not interested in eating much:confused3 ).

I think we may go for Lucky Nugget and we have done Plaza Gardens tea a couple of times but may do this again as I find it good value for money.

The food is great in Inventions but for the money it's quite a pedestrian dining experience and the bar is far more in keeping with what you'd expect in DLH. We had great interaction with the characters but when they weren't around it was just a normal restuarant and it didn't feel particularly Disney.

Cafe Mickey was fab - it's wonderfully themed and the characters are always around somewhere so it always feel very Disney. The food is very good too and the CMs were very helpful. It's now become our 2nd 'must do' restaurant along with The Blue Lagoon.

Having read other reviews and trip reports you have just confirmed why we should put this on our plan also :goodvibes

I'm wondering about this at the moment too :confused3

My daughter doesn't 'do' queueing so I want to make the most of character meals so she gets plenty of interaction.
We have pre-booked a character breakfast and a teaparty but I couldn't decide on which restaurant so I thought we might just go to all 3 :rotfl2: Am wondering now, will this be overkill - we're there 5nights/6days.

Cafe Mickey is a definate! :thumbsup2
I really would like to try Lucky Nugget idealy on our first night if its open (park shuts at 9) so this is time allowing.
But then inventions  It sounds really nice but is it worth the money? For me and my daughter it would be 70 euros or £50ish before drinks :scared1: Neither of us eat any seafood (mentioned on dlpfoodguide) so would be using the other buffet options.

Is the other food, atmosphere, character interaction worth over £50 for 1ad/1ch at inventions?
How long are the characters out here for?

Raci,

At CM & LN there were (on average) 2 characters mingling the tables at any one time but only 1 at Inventions when we were ther at 6pm.

Our bill came to 110 euros which I felt was expensive for what we ate (lots of seafood and rich sauced meat).

Its all about personal preferences and have read that others thought Inventions was their best eating experience.

If finances allow try them all and you will know for your next trip :goodvibes

Sarah
Did you get a 20% discount for booking at 6?
dlpfoodguide say its sometimes a possibility if you book early :confused3
This would def tip our decision in favour of inventions.
Anyone know anymore about it?

We used our 20% AP restaurant voucher as we did not know about this offer.

That equates to a sizeable discount for you though. :goodvibes and takes the cost down to not far off a typical meal at say Annettes.

I dont think Inventions is going to be for us. I was worried about the cost and food selections. It would be a waste of money as my kids would not appreciate their surroundings or the food(too little). Thanks for your thoughts Sarah:thumbsup2

What hasnt been mentioned is the sunday brunch at the steak house. This is a great meal with a buffett that has breakfast and lunch things on it. The puddings are to die for. And great character interaction. We had Mickey and Minnie sat at our table last december toasting each other with our drinks.

Thanks!
I did know about it and thought it sounded great, but we arrive on Sunday by Eurostar so wont be there at the right time for it.

We would have done this as well but we dont arrive until Sunday evening :confused3

What a shame :sad2: we will miss out on this on our next trip too as we are going Monday to Friday. Never mind, it just means that we will have to book a trip including a Sunday the following summer! :rotfl2:
