Invasion of the Ants

It happened later this year but they have finally come. Little ants have started to appear in almost every room of my house. I tell the kids NOT to keep candy in their room but of course my daughter did and now there are ants in her rug. Some areas I spray with ant killing stuff but with a five month old puppy who likes to lick, I'm nervous. Anyone have any more 'natural' suggestions? I've heard of bay leaves.

My kitty likes to catch and eat spiders live, so I could send her over for a quick sweep if you'd like

I heard they don't like cinamon, but am not sure. They say the hot stuff like that kills them and they won't cross over it. Again , I have not tried this, but it never hurts and your puppy may like it.

I just had a huge ant problem. Took me about 3 days to get rid of them, once I started.

I have found that the dryer sheets (like Bounce) will keep ants away, however, if you have 3 armies (well, it felt like that) - even those won't keep them away.

We sprayed Ortho pest control all around the house. Ants live in dirt, so you need to find out where they are crossing to get into your house. There were about 5 ant trails, and every time I sprayed, they would make a new one. After the first time I sprayed & it didn't work, we sprinkled comet around the house & on the ant trails. That worked, but the ants found other entrances - I sprayed every entrance, and haven't had any problems with ants for a few days now. I'm hoping this will work for awhile at least.

We would get those little bitty ants every spring! They would start getting into the sunporch first, then work their way to the kitchen! This year, right after they started, I saw a tv commercial for Ortho Home Defense. It's a spray you can use both outside and inside your home. It not only kills on contact, it prevents them from getting in for 6 - 9 months. I figured I had nothing to lose (but bugs! ) so I tried it. I am VERY happy to report I haven't seen one since!!! I HIGHLY recommend it!!
