Hi All

I've been lurking around on here for a while reading the posts and getting loads of really helpful info so thought it was time I joined lol

Only been to DLRP once - for my 40th birthday - in 2006 but loved every minute of it and have been dying to go again ever since. While there the other couple we were with decided we would do DW for her 40th in 2011 as their DD would be old enough for the long flight.

But now thanks to my eldest step-son and his girlfriend we have a gorgeous grand-daughter who will be 1 in November plus twin step grand-sons who will be 10 in December. So I know have a reason to go to DLRP again  :cheer2:  Had planned to go for their birthday in December but managed to get a better deal in January for 6 days 5 nights :woohoo:

The kids have no idea and the suspense is killing me.

So would like a bit of advise please. I read another post regarding buying shares but can't for life of me find it now:( I've decided to buy some shares before we go so I can use the shareholder card for discounts etc. Someone mentioned using Selftrade to purchase shares and I just wondered what paperwork / proof they provided that you can send to the shareholders club to prove you own the shares, they've told me if I want the certificates it'll cost me £10?

Cheers Suze

Hello and welcome. Glad you've decided to go back. We've only been once too but are also booked up for January :thumbsup2

I think it might have been my post that you read about buying shares through selftrade, I was going to do it the other day but the site crashed (wonder if it was fate  ) Unfortunately I can't help you as I haven't done it yet. Some people have though, so I'll be looking forward to reading your replies.

I can't believe you're keeping it a secret. I wanted to do that and tell the kids christmas morning, but honestly I'm worse than them and was sooooo hyper after booking it that I had to tell them :rotfl:

Hi and welcome - sorry cant answer your question but just wanted to say hi

When you buy the shares you'll have a Contract Note available online in Your Self Trade account, you need to print that out and then send it together with the form that you download from the Eurodisney SCA site and payment (if you only have the minimum share amount to join). :)

Hi

Thanks for the welcome and the replies.

Cookie334 - yes it's hard keeping it a secret but it helps that the kids live 2hrs away so unfortunately I don't see them on a daily or even weekly basis. So it's just OH that sees all the ebay parcels arriving, so long as nothing with MM on arrives for him he just lets me get on with it;) I just had to have a Minnie Mouse pushchair plus the accessories for GD but I think I need to stop now as me, DIL and the kids will have to change at least twice a day to wear all the clothes I've bought:rotfl:

I have read the shareholder card discounts right haven't I, it gives you discounts on the resturants in the parks and village but not the takeaway places, and also on purchases in the shops?

Cheers Suze

PS Cookie334 - when are you going in January??

Hi Suze, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

Yes, you've read that right. You'll get 15% discount on table service and buffet meals and 15% off most shopping (sometimes it's only 10% ie. if its limited edition stuff).

Good luck with keeping it secret ~ I'd blab!! :rotfl:

Ok, so i'm looking on the trade thingy.

And it says the value is 8.76.

Is this £? How many shares are the minimum you need? I'd love shares in something, just so I'm on the market but as you can tell, a film degree hasn;t given any knowledge of the stock market....if its 5 or 10 though I might do it!

I'd earn that back in discounts and salon mickey!!

Pretty sure the price is shown in Euros as they are on the Euronext Paris market.

Need 5 to join shareholders club plus 30 Euros (might be 20 can't remember off top of head) joining fee. No joining fee if you have 20 or more shares.

Depending on exchange rate it's roughly £36 for 5 shares, £141 for 20. Can't decide on 5 or 20, but sure that even if I splash out on 20 I'll save that on the discounts while we're there.

Hoping to sort mine out later today or tomorrow so I'll let you know what it came to.

hi torsie24

Woo-hoo......purchased my shares:woohoo:

Was a bit out with my estimate but still not bad.....phoned up this morning and got a qoute - 5 shares = £46.42 and 20 shares = £148.20 - these prices include the commission/fee that Selftrade charge. They did qoute the individual share price in GBP (around 6.75 at the time) and explained need to add £12.50 fee plus 0.05% (I think), but I asked them to give me the above qoutes so I knew I was paying enough money into account first (have to have money in account before purchasing)

Set up a dealing account online with Selftrade, paid some cash in and then rang up to purchase the shares - total price for 20 shares was £147.60 (inc their fees etc). Selftrade obviously have quite a few people purchasing these shares through them as they explained what I needed to print off to send to the shareholders club!!

So now off to print application form and post it off:) according to the website I should have my card in 6 weeks:thumbsup2

Awesome!! I really want to do this!! Might go for 5 for now though.

Thanks so much for all your help!! I wonder what your card will look like?!?

Wouldn't it be more sensible to join before your trip, so you can use the card to receive discount and pay back some of the cost?

Not really no as i cant afford to buy them till after my trip.

That's a shame... I'm hoping to get one in time for our trip, so maybe you can borrow it for a big souvenir shop as part of the DIS meet :rotfl:

We were often asked for ID when using our card during our last trip.

hmm, that interesting - not a problem if the shopping was done as part of the DIS meet though, because I'd be going to that. We could all do our shopping at the same time and make one massive purchase :thumbsup2
