This is Loki. DD and I found him by T-Rex at DTD. He was just sitting back in the bushes next to the building. He was very close to where they are doing construction on the far side of the building.
When we approached him, I thought he'd run. He didn't. In fact, he came to us and played when DD dangled a piece of grass near him. He appeared to be 6 to 8 months old. It took some time, but I managed to get hold of him and carry him to our car which was parked near Raglan Road. Once we got in the car, he went nuts. He was very scared. By the time we got home, he was hiding under the passenger front seat.
I tried to lure him out with tuna, but no go. Finally, I put on a pair of gardening gloves and reached down to pick him up. I had a carrier ready for him. In the process, he bit me right through my glove. I did get him into the carrier and took him right over to our vet. Unfortunately, because he bit me, I had to go to the ER. Since I recently finished chemo, my doctor said I'd need a tetnus shot and an antibiotic. The ER reported it to animal control. This meant Loki had to be quarantined for ten days.
It was a long ten days. The vet and his staff could not touch him while he was in quarantine. They made sure he had food and water. He couldn't be examined. We weren't even sure he was a he for awhile. They put the carrier in the cage with him and he hid there for several days. Eventually, he started coming out.
He is home with us now. He is still very shy. He will come out and play for awhile, then hide under the sofa. He is slowly coming around. He is not at all afraid of our dog, Luna. He lets us pet him and pick him up. I don't think he was really a feral kitten. I think someone either dumped him or he got away from them. Anyway, he is a member of our family now. In time, I think he will be very happy here.
