Just returned from WDW. We stayed at POP, but it's getting cramped. There are 4 of us, boys are 4&2. We did a DVC open house and liked what we saw. The current deal appeals to us financially, but we're not sure about committing to something for almost 50 years. Also does anyone know if there's a program or something of that nature to "freeze" your dues payments if you loose your job?? If we buy, we'll pay it off and have no mortgage. Should have asked at the open house but........Thanks

No there is not.

There are great deals on the Resale market. Many of the older resorts have contracts that end in 2042, so you wouldn't have the 50 years. You can save alot of money... especially because you don't have to buy 160 points to join. You can purchase a smaller contract. Depending on your needs... and through banking/borrowing points you may be able to get by with a 50 or 100 point contract. Especially if you only want to go every other year.

The Timeshare store is great to deal with... sponsor of this board. they have great info on their site.

Good Luck!

If you do not think you could / want to pay your dues for a year, you should have the option to rent the use of your points for a year (you make the reservation for the renter)

renting is not for everyone, so you may want to familiarize yourself with the process..

As mentioned, Another option, would be buying only enough points for an every other year trip (with banking). With half the points, you would have half the yearly dues. On the rental market, you can buy contracts smaller than 160..

Or, you can avoid buying in totally and renting a reservation from a member. Find a member you feel comfortable with, let them pay the dues and you just pay them the per point cost of the reservation.

Ditto. Certainly the most affordable, non-committal option if you are concccerned about the future..
