intimate wedding with "Virgin Holidays"

Um...as a single person I can't help here...but

Did anyone else think the title of the thread was hilarious?!

from the outside, not knowing the terms, yes, it is a funny title :rotfl:

Just to clarify for future brides:the information that 952LisaR was given about the add-on is incorrect. DD is doing an add-on & is staying 4 nights at Pop Century. So it's perfectly acceptable to meet the 4 night stay in a value resort. We've found that the sales people often give inaccurate information.
Hope this helps.

Hi All,
We have our wedding also booked through Virgin and yes, I have to agree, not brilliant so far.
Any alterations we have made to our holiday, I have done through the normal reservations side which doesnt seem to have been a problem.

I have had direct contact from a Disney rep by e-mail and I am generally pitching my questions to her and bypassing Virgin, after all, they are only my booking agents.

We returned all our paperwork to them and it "never arrived" but fortunately I had made duplicates. I can only advise that you all do the same and document every communivation that you have with them.

I now have a direct email contact with Virgin Weddings and Disney Weddings and I know who I will speak to first !

If you need an e-mail address of someone at Virgin Weddings, drop me a line and I will pass it on to you. It is someone who does reply to messages.
It is not right that we all spend so much money with them for the service to be 2nd rate !
I am sure that all will work out OK in the end. Not sure about the booking in to a WDW hotel 4 days in advance, there is definitely no rule about that. It is up to you, I think the only stipulation is that you are required to stay for 4 days, of your choice. We transfer from I-Drive to AKL the day before the wedding.

Hope that has helped and I am happy for you to contact me if you think I can help.
Regards to all,
Russ

Hi Russ - we're all sorted now - I'm liasising with Caron at Virgin weddings and she's been great - we check into the AKL the day before the wedding - and we're staying there until we fly home - so we got 10 nights instead of 8 and ended up saving money!

I am a bit disapointed that the service wasn't great from the start but I'm happy I'm now in safe hands and am looking forward to the trip.

have to fill in our pack this weekend - and I will photocopy it before posting it off!

TOTALLY!!! I've been thinking that since the very beginning, but no one commented on it so I kept quiet.... :ssst:

Rosie - I am so pleased to hear that everything got sorted for you with Virgin - absolutely ludricous what they were suggesting you do - so glad it all worked out.

Eve - I book all my holiday components separately and have done for the last 4 years and it does save an awful lot of money especially if staying at Disney or in a villa - although I find the packages to I-Drive hotels usually come out about the same price. Especially as the dollar rate is still quite good (OK not as good as say 6/7 weeks ago).

Also just wanted to confirm that you can stay at any level of Disney resort to get the intimate add-on - it certainly does not have to be a deluxe or moderate.

Hi All,

We got married in Orlando last October via Virgin Weddings. OK, we didnt have all the same problems re 4 night stays as we didnt have a Disney Wedding, but I have to say that I panicked all through the planning process.

Yes, Virgin will send you a form about 8 weeks before departure for you to fill in and return, and the form mentions upgrading photograph packages, upgrading flowers, upgrading cakes etc, but there was absolutely no photo or anything to chose from, just little boxes to tick or cross!

We met with our Virgin Wedding Co-ordinator the day before the wedding and she went through everything with us. She knew everything there was to know, and did answer all our questions, but I am a panicker and waiting until 24 hours before the Big Day to view a pic of the flowers is not good!!

We did have to fill in a Virgin Wedding Survey following the wedding, and we did put all these points down. We said that the Orlando Rep was very knowledgeable, but no-one in the UK could help at all. Emails were never answered, and it would certainly help UK brides for a lot more information on upgrading packages before departure.

Our wedding at Cypress Grove went perfectly though, apart from the fact that Virgin sent my hairdresser to the wrong hotel and turned up half an hour late - not good for a panicker!!!!

And we never did receive a Wedding Certificate from Richard Branson!!!!

Good luck to you all.
