Hi,
we are planning to renew our vows for our 10 year anniversary and we will be including our 3 children - ages 8, 6 and 3 (at the time of trip). It will only be the five of us attending.

We are looking for ideas to make our day even more special. Any tips/recommendations would be great!
Is there anything special we can do for the children, recommendations before and after the ceremony.

Thanks!!

We had a Vow to the children as part of our service.
They may also think riding in the limo is special.

Also if you could swing the $700 their favorite character at the cake cutting would be a really nice treat for you eheem I mean them! :rotfl:

CindeBella, congrats on your upcoming vow renwal. I renewed mine last year for my 20th wedding anniversary. Disney did a marvelous job with it.

I don't know if your children are girls, but if any of them are, definitely consider booking a hair & makeup session. I am not a girly-girl by any means, but I knew that my niece and daughter would love having their hair and makeup professionally done. It would make the fact that they were going to be bridesmaids in my vow renewal more "real." And so I booked a Disney Cosmetology session for the three of us.

I must tell you that it was some of the best money that I spent that day. Our time together was absolutely priceless. I hope my photos show a little bit of that: click here for photo album, or click here for slideshow.

Janet,
I love your photos and congrats on your 20 yr anniversary!
I do have a little girl, CindeBella (Isabella/Bella but we call her CindeBella). She will have just turned 3 at the time of the renewal.
She and I are both girly-girls so we will enjoy the hair session. I was a Chanel makeup artist before I had our 3 children so I will do my own makeup.

Do you recommend a hair stylist or should I contact Disney Weddings?

Thanks!

CindeBella, oh, I bow down in your presence -- you were a makeup artist? Wow!

My Event Manager was the one who booked Disney Cosmetology for my vow renewal. I haven't read the threads on this board, but I ~think~ things might have changed judging by the thread titles that I’ve seen lately. I would ask your Event Manager about it.

I second the suggestion for a character at your cake cutting ceremony. Your children will flip over it.

I chose Sorcerer Mickey for my vow renewal because our dance party was held beneath the Sorcerer's Hat icon inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. I have many darling photos of Mickey with my guests and with my family. Here are just two:

Mickey with my husband: click here
Mickey with my family: click here

For the most part, you can select the character's attire. I had Mickey Mouse make an appearance at my dinner party last year at the Grand Floridian. To see what Mickey looked like in his standard outfit, take a look at my photo album of that event: click here. You'll find lots of adorable Mickey photos in that album, but I think two of my favorites are the following ones:

Mickey and children #1: click here (Mickey's quite the ham)
Mickey and children #2: click here

Having a character or two at your vow renewal will make for some very precious memories.

Oh, your parties looked wonderful!! I had no ideas that the characters show up at dinner parties, I had no idea that dance parties are available.
I suppose our planner figuired since it will only be our family we would not do any of the parties.
For our 20th anniversary celebration I would love to do something as special as yours! It's good to have goals, right? :wizard:

I will look into having a character for the children at the ceremony. Do you have any suggestions for dinner? We have the limo for 4 hours; however, I'm unsure of the times. I believe the it will bring us to the ceremony site and whatever time is left after, if any, we will get to use.

You seem very knowledgeable about Disney. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thank you for sharing photos of your beautiful family and vow renewal!

CindeBella, I forget that you’re new around these parts. ;) There is much to learn here on the Dis website. Lots of people have wonderful stories to share.

I should probably share a couple of my trip reports with you. They’ll give you a small glimpse of Walt Disney World’s more unique side. To read about my family’s Summerhouse Dinner Party Event, click here. That trip report explains what I went through as I planned a private dinner party at the Grand Floridian Resort. To read about the planning of my custom vow renewal, click here. And to read about my actual vow renewal, click here. Note: Neither of those two trip reports are finished yet.

As to your question regarding what to do for dinner after your vow renewal, well, that really depends upon what you’re after. You could make it fun for your family by attending the Luau at the Polynesian Resort or the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds. You could make the evening fancy with dinner at the Chef’s Table inside the Grand Floridian’s Victoria & Albert’s Restaurant or more laid-back with dinner at the ‘Ohana Restaurant inside the Polynesian Resort. Really, the sky is the limit as to what you could do.

I would suggest that you think it over carefully since you have young children involved, unless you’d rather they enjoyed an evening in your resort room with an in-room sitter so that you and your husband could have a romantic anniversary dinner alone. Again, it’s up to you. Give it some serious thought, and then have fun planning your magical day.
