Hey all! My name is Jeff. I just had my phone interview a couple of days ago and I'm going to the character audition on April 18th in San Francisco. I'm currently a seasonal entertainment Cast Member at Disneyland. Erica (the woman who interviewed me over the phone) told me it would most likely take 5 weeks for me to know if I'm accepted into the program after my audition. My sister is also applying for the same Fall term. We are both hoping that we will be accepted into the program as it looks like a great opportunity. I wasn't able to attend a campus presentation, so I'm hoping that the phone interview doesn't disadvantage me at all. I hope to make some friends here, and get some great information about the program. I do have a couple of questions, is there not a lot of spots left in the program for fall, I told them I didn't want food and beverage, but I'm hoping since I'm a current CM it will help me.

Hi Jeff! Welcome to DIS!!! I believe we are also chatting via YouTube (I'm Brennailya)! Based on what other people are told, the program seems to be filling up rather quickly, and several people are being offered QSFB that did not check it off on their list. If (and that's a big if) that's the role you're offered, you can always deny it and try again next semester. It will not count against you in the future if you deny now. I believe the fact that you are going for regular fall you are in the better boat... most people who are having problems applied for fall advantage.

The phone interview will not hurt you at all! Most students who attend that campus presentation also do phone interviews, so you are in the vast majority on that one!!!

Good luck on your audition!!!

Oh yes we are chatting on you tube as well!!! I guess if it comes down to it I wouldn't mind Food, but I told them in the interview that I had a Fast food job and didn't enjoy it that much. :lmao:

I was just interviewed today and now I don't think i can wait two weeks to find out if i made it or not. And if I did...what happens if I have qsfb. I think I would be miserable...Does anyone have any good experiences with qsfb?

My phone interview is tomorrow at noon. Im excited, but Im really going to hate that 3+ week wait to find something out. =[

everyone is accepted into the dcp, i think the "interview" is just a way to make you feel like this is something you should be "honored" to be a participant in. really, everyone gets in because they need cheap labor, which is what we are! also, the interviewer does not take into consideration what your top choices are or what you prefer to do, so you may get any role.

That's not true. Not everyone is accepted- there just isn't room enough for everyone.

And yes, they do take into consideration what your top roles are. If there is still room, they try to give you one of them. I got my third choice my first CP, and my second choice my second CP.

Yeah that's definitely not true, I've talked to people who didn't get in. Disney looks good on a resume, and even if we are "cheap labor," people still want the job and more people apply than there are spaces.

I have my interview tomorrow at 9:45am.

I am so nervous, mostly because I am afraid they will not work with my limitations due to my disability.

I can name 7 people right now that didn't get accepted. And all of them had clean background checks and above 2.0s. If a person does not get accepted it generally has to do with how much room there is (like Joanna said) and what roles he/she is willing to do! If you said no to QSFB in the interview, but it's the only role left... then you'll get denied.

I think what she meant was as long as there is room you will get in. I have not heard of anyone who applied early and didn't get in.

If you read some of the other threads closely, you'll find a couple people who applied in February who didn't get hired for Fall. I'm not 100% about their situations though, it could have been due to other things opposed to the basic application/interview.

Well my interview is over! It went well, until I got a call back...due to my only be able to work 25 hours per week...they are now looking in to whether or not they can make acommadations under the ADA for me. When the woman called me back she said she was reccommending me for Full Service F&B and Merch, and she said she personally thinks I would be a good candidate, and she is going to see what she can do with my restrictions.

Crossing my fingers here. I called the ADA after I hung up the 2nd time, and after expling the situation was told that I should file a claim against Disney, I turned it down at this time, hoping SOMETHING will be worked out.

Good luck. Hopefully something can be worked out.

I find that very interesting... keep us posted!

I found it interesting as well, I made it clear I just wanted to know what my rights were in this situations. The woman I spoke to was VERY helpful in making sure I completely understood the law, my rights and Disney's rights in this.

I've had to face this once before, when I first went off to college because dorms were reserved for full time students only, but I was only allowed to do part time. Since then (2001) not much of the ADA has changed at all.

The woman was VERY surprised to hear it was Disney giving me the trouble as she said they are known for their diversity and acceptance of all abilities and disabilities. She asked a series of questions to see if I could perform essential job functions, which I can, so hopefully there won't be any more road blocks!

I mean seriously...I cannot be the ONLY one out there...disabled and because of that having restrictions on their physical ability who wants to take advantage of the amazing opportunity the CP is!

I'll post more after I talk to Disney again tomorrow. I did fax in and mail in my application today (at the urging of the ADA rep) with a cover letter explaining my limitations and a bit about my disability. So the process is in motion!
