I'm so excited!!! I had a phone interview last Friday and they asked if I could come for an interview next week, it's been 10 years since I've been to an interview so I'm very nervous!! Does anyone have any experience with a Westjet interview or work for them? Because it's such a huge company, I have no idea what to experience. If anyone has or does work for them, is it really as great as it seems? Thanks for all your advice!

Hi,

My husband works for WJ, and I'm kind of familiar with how it works. Since no one else has responded, I'll tell you the things I know.

A lot depends on the position you are applying for. If it is a "skilled" position (such that you took schooling or training previously) then a lot will depend on your experience and resume. They will be judging your personality as well, and are fond of using behavioral interviews. Run through your answers to typical behavioral interview questions before the interview.

If it is a "trained" position (where they will train you, such as a flight attendant or CSA), then most of what they will be looking at is your personality and how you interact with others. I know for flight attendant positions they often do group interviews where about 10 people are interviewed at the same time. The first most important thing is not to be late for the interview! I have heard that they will lock the door and you will not even be interviewed if you are late. (this would also probably count against you in the future) The key for these positions is to let your personality out. Do not try to be someone you're not, but if you have a great personality, don't be afraid to show it. Since they will train you for the specific job, they will want to know about the things they can't train, such as how you are at customer service, and how you deal with stressful situations. Most of all - be yourself.

I hope that helps a little bit. Good luck!

PS. It is a great company to work for. Depending on the position you're in, you may not be making a lot of money, but if you take full advantage of the employee stock plan you can increase your salary/wages by 20%. You also get the benefit of airline employee travel deals, so if you've always wanted to see the world it can be a great opportunity that way.

What type of position are you applying for? My husband also works for WJ, and is in management, so he does a lot of their interviews with the people department as an additional interviewer... lots of "panel interviews" with you in a room with several managers/WJ personnel at once.

Mainly looking for personality, and making sure you fit the culture. I recommend reading up on them as much as possible, it's a great company to work for.... plus you cant beat the perks!

Best of luck !!!

I have several friends and family that work in the airline industry. You should be aware that with Skyservice going under there are now many trained and qualified people looking for positions.

Thank you! It's for a CSA position by the way!!! I'll let you know how it goes!!

Good Luck!!! I work with another TA that also works P/T in Passenger Services at the A/P. She loves Westjet!!

Hope you have a great interview!:thumbsup2

Congrats! :cool1: I have always wanted to work for West Jet as flight attend. but can't re-locate to Calgary :(
Good luck!! :thumbsup2

For a CSA role you just want to make sure your personality shines through... that people mean something to you, with your GUESTS (Not customers-they dont call them that), and with your TEAM. They are big on team work, company pride, building a great organization through their people, and respecting one another. They are a fun bunch, and a CSA job is a great one to have.... good luck!!!

Hey Sue! Don't let that stop you! I live in Montreal and am a FA there! People commute from Newfoundland, Hawaii, Amsterdam.. schedules are really flexible so it can be done!

Chrisann: Good luck! What location are you interviewing for?
