Interview questions based off role choice

Heyy guys! I have my phone interview Thursday and I want to be very prepared. I was wondering what sort of questions you know of that they typically ask depending on what roles are your top 3. I think I am looking at having Merchandise as my first choice, attractions second, and hospitality third! Also any other random advice for the phone interview is much appreciated I'm so anxious and nervous for the phone interview. Also does anyone know if there certain roles you are more likely to get over others because their are more jobs available in those categories?

Hey! I didn't interview for any of those roles, but I know that for the more general work based questions, they will often ask "name a time when..." questions. They will refer back to the work experience you listed and ask you about experiences you had there, and if you can't think of an example, they will also let you use school as an example. So it could be something like "name a time when you had a conflict with a co-worker" or "name a time when you encountered a difficult situation and how you resolved it." They also ask about your living habits and how well you get along with roommates.

For each of your three roles, they will probably ask you 1-2 role specific questions that relate to your experience or what you would do in certain situations. A well known question for attractions was "what would you do if there was a child who wanted to ride Space Mountain but was too short?" but I don't think they use that one anymore.

The tips I have are to relax for the hour before your interview. Some people say to dress up, but I wore something I was comfortable in. Tape your resume to the wall so if they reference something you put in your application, you will know immediately what they're talking about. Also, write the interviewer's name down at the beginning of the conversation, and use it so they know you were listening. Smile, and good luck!!

after reading through what some people say about their interviews, it seems like they ask different questions for everyone. So there isn't really specific questions to be ready for. I would recommend having your resume in front of you, or something that has notes on your past work experience. Having my resume in front of me helped a lot, I was able to tell them what jobs I had in the past, exactly what I did and even told them about the leadership positions I hold at school. The best advice would be to just be yourself and think about how much you want this.

I would also suggest, based on my DD's experience and that of her roommates, to have an idea of not only what role you'd like to fill during your CP, but WHY. My DD knew what attraction she wanted to work, and when asked, made good observations about the exact reasons (her major, her physical appearance which meshed well with the theme, etc) for her choice, and let her interviewer know that while she'd happily accept any role, she would be a good fit for THAT particular job. When she got to WDW, that was the job she got!

On the other hand, one of her roomates just gushed at the interview that she'd take ANY job, she would just be so happy to get into the program, and was assigned to Housekeeping. She cleaned hotel rooms at Wilderness Lodge for two weeks, then quit and went home.

Coincidence? Maybe yes and maybe no, but if the interviewer talks to 20 people, and half of them say they don't care where they're placed, and the other half express a well reasoned request for a particular job, the interviewer might fill up the less 'requested' jobs with applicants who say they don't care where they're placed.

And I could be totally wrong, of course - it could just be my DD's karma to get her dream job!

Yes it is, as is full service! I've done both and am doing merchandise this time around, so it's a nice change! But foods is a lot of fun, definitely be open to it.

I do agree, JUSTIFY why you want that role. Give examples of why it would be a good fit for you. Don't just say you'll accept anything and not give any reason for it. Also think of times when you've done something relavent to that role- I had two prior years' experience in foods before my 1st CP so I was in-tune with that area; this time I got merchandise mostly because my recruiter denoted I wanted a change from foods, but I was still able to back up why I wanted merchandise outside of that reason AND my experience for that role.
