We are just about to make our purchase (probably this week :bounce: we are waiting for our loan to come through!)

I look every day on this board and every day I come up with more questions for all you DVC gooroos;)

Todays question is this, does the DVC timeshare enroll us into Interval?

How does it compare for trading?

We plan to go annually to BCV (usually Dec or May) and we thought it would be nice to do a smaller trip another time of year there however if we could go to Vermont for a week (mid summer) that would be awesome :smooth:

I was just wondering?

Has anyone ever traded?

II trades are all handled thru MS. You will not have an individual membership and will have access to only a select portion of the II inventory of resorts.

II exchanges will require a week exchange thru DVC- there are no weekend or short stays available, but DVC does have the Concierge Collection that offers short stays at a nice selection of resorts.

Enjoy!

Doc, I am not exactly sure what you mean?

We don't have access to all the resorts (Interval) but we have access to a few, are there any in New England?

DVC has hand picked about 300 II resorts for the World Passport Collection. They have supposedly been selected as resorts similar in quality to DVC standards.

There are several available in New England. Harbor Ridge, Moosehead Cottage, Mountainview Resort and Vacationland Estates- all in Maine. Beachside Village, Brewster Greeen Resort, Marriott's Custom House, The Pond's at Fox Hollow and Surfside Resort- all in Massachusetts. Inns of Waterville Valley, The Mountain Club on Loon, Pollard Brook and the Summit at Four Seasons- all in New Hampshire. Eagles at Sugarbush, Trapp Family Lodge- in Vermont. Newposrt Bay Club & Hotel, Wellington Resort- in Rhode Island.

There are also a few Concierge Collection resorts in the same area.

Enjoy!

As a DVC member you are not elligible to join or use II. DVC is a coporate member so they control everything. This leads to advantages and disadvantages. it is better for the non timeshare person who will exchange only rarely. It is worse for those of us who are also members of II and tend to exchange more frequently. DVC will trade well but most trades will be a downtrade. Even if you trade for a resort that's equal to DVC, you're still losing out on the on property WDW advantage. DVC is very expensive for exchanging so I wouldn't buy with this option in mind or buy less points and do the other options on your own.

Dean and Doc,

Thanks for the input. We are total disney people however we also love New England and all that it has to offer us. We typically vacation in WDW 1x/yr. and then head to the mountains 1x/yr.

We however feel DVC is the right choice for us because we will definitely increase our type of room at WDW and we will probably head out for a couple of golf weekends with our friends during the spring. But to know that we can in fact use our timeshare for the New England area makes it even better.

Just curious, does it really eat up your points? For example what would a week in July cost in points for Loon Mountain?

Right now we are looking at less points from DVC direct and more points from resale (240?)

Just curious, does it really eat up your points?

The 2003 Point requirements for the World Passport Collection:

1BR- 124 pts /144 pts /160pts (Low, Mid, High Seasons)

2BR- 207 pts /252 pts /270 pts (Low, Mid, High Seasons)

These totals are for a full week (no other options) Seasons will vary bewteen resorts based on location and demand.

mitcam, the choice is yours. For your stated plans you will likely be better off buying less DVC points and then buying something that will either be in that area of the NE or can trade there. Even just paying cash for what you want may be best. The choice is yours, I just want you to know that you have choices and some of them are likely cheaper and easier in the long run than what your current plans are. There are no choices that can be scheduled directly or that will work out for long weekends for the Lincoln area.
