I have not had a chance to be on the boards for a while and searched on this and read the posts I could find, but still need help.

We've been receiving all this mail lately about the interval international timeshares. I need help understanding how this works.

If we want to book at an interval int'l timeshare, the points are as listed in the info we received from Disney. If I am understanding this correctly, someone with an interval timeshare must be willing to give up the same timeframe we are looking for? If so, how do we match up? Do we actually book at DVC and then trade?

Now, how about the people who want to use our DVC timeshares. Have they joined other timeshares and paid way less than we have and will now be able to book at our DVC resorts? And if so, will this affect our ability to get ressies when we want them (because there will be more people booking)?

Thanks for any clarification.

All you do is call MS and tell them that you would like to trade. It is best to be a bit flexible either in the time period or the resort. For example you might give them a list of 3 resorts and a certain month or two that you are looking at. Like you said someone has to want to trade their week there for it to be open. They do not neccessarily have to be trading into DVC. MS will start looking for the trade for you. When they find one that matches your criteria they will call you and notify you telling you how many points it will cost you. If you agree then the trade is made and off you go. You will find that the people who are trying to trade into DVC probably did pay less for thier timeshare. Maybe not a lot less because DVC trades are considered top trades (not sure what they call it in II, in RCI they are called Gold Crown) so the person has to be trading from a top rated resort too.

I think that I got all the facts right. If not Dean will straighten me out. He is really the expert at timeshares in general.

go read the advice section of tug

www.tug2.net

I don't think you need to join tug ($15) to read this section - it really explains all about timeshares in general (not DVC) and that is what you are trading into.

Dean has list (in most areas) of good trades using DVC - so I would definitely ask for the resorts on his list.
