Thinking of trading for a stay in St Thomas. Since I've never done this, I have a couple questions.

The points for a 2 bedroom are 270 per 7 night week. Is this per person? Or would this cover the 4 adults that will be taking this trip? The cruiseline is per person but I can't find anywhere that states one way or the other for II.

Also, has anyone done this for St Thomas?

Thank you!

A trade through II is a week's trade and is for the unit, not per person. It works just like reserving a DVC room. You pay the points for the reservation, not for the person.

That resort only has 2 & 3 BR options. As noted, it would be 270 points at the most for a 2 BR but would be somewhat less off season. Don't expect much or any availability. I'd start searching at least 13-14 months in advance. Consider a 3 BR search as well if you can stomach it as it will give you more options.

I am also looking into our first II exchange -- but totally don't know where to start.

I am trying to find a 2BR stay, for 5 days, in the Bahamas. How do I find out how many DVC points that equates to?

And do I actually have to book a DVC reservation and deposit that to II, or can I just do x number of points?

Totally confused. I never thought I'd use my points for anything but Disney, lol.

You can't book less than 7 days (at least not yet). You call and tell them what you are looking for and when. They tell you yes or no on availability. If it's no, they put you on the waiting list. They won't take the points from you until you are confirmed in a resort. I am not sure, but I think it's automatic confirmation.

We did put in 3 requests for any time in October 2008 (2 in Aruba and 1 in Mexico). We got a 1 bedroom in Mexico at the Royal Sands (rated #1 on Tripadvisor for Cancun). I think it took me 1 week for my request to come through. It cost me 144 points.

Kim - as far as how many points it will costs depends on where and when you go. MS can help you. They were very helpful when I called. You don't have to make a Disney reservation at all, they just take your points once your request comes through.

so I don't even have to sign up with II? I can handle it all right through MS?

You don't deal with II, you deal directly through MS. Just call the 800 number and listen to the prompts to get to the right MS person.
