We are looking at a few Interval International Getaways and are excited about some of the possibilities. Before we hit "buy" we would like to know if the week can be transferred to someone else if we are unable to make the trip. Thanks for any help!

The Interval International membership agreement prohibits renting out getaways. People have had their II membership canceled when they got caught. So, you can't sell it. You can, however, give it away to a friend or family member. I'm not clear on the whole "guest certificate" thing, which you might have to purchase, or maybe not.

Thank you! That's what I wanted to know - would give it to a family member if we could not use but wasn't sure if that was against the rules.

You absolutely can gift them--I gifted a week to my brother for his wedding using an AC. You do need to buy a guest cert though.

Just found that answer... thank you for pointing out the option of a gift certificate. I found this info but it does not tell the cost of a gift certificate.

Q. How do I purchase a Guest Certificate online?

  • You´ll have the opportunity to purchase a Guest Certificate online at the time you make an exchange confirmation or place a request.
You can also purchase a Guest Certificate online when you buy your Getaway.
If your transaction was already completed, simply go to your Member Corner and click on “My Transactions” to view your exchange and Getaway history. You have the option to add, modify or delete a Guest Certificate for any current exchange or Getaway transaction by clicking the “ADD/MODIFY/DELETE” button.

One other question I have not found the answer to... do we have to stay the entire 7 days for a Getaway? Sometimes flights work out best a day or two before the end of a certificate.

Just guessing, but who would ever know when you left?

They probably would not :) I guess I was thinking of the clause of an early departure fee but in this case it is prepaid - my brain was not engaged after the long weekend!

Yes, you can definitely check out early. We usually let the resort know when we check in, and we remind them again when we leave, so that they can notify housekeeping.

You get the unit for the week, you can use it as you please. You can arrive late or leave early. I had a Friday check-in during Memorial Day weekend at Old Key West on an AC one year, and we left I think on Tuesday late afternoon.

That's probably because it may be different for different classes of owners. I'm a garden-variety member and would pay $79. That's the upper limit.

Thanks for this info. I didn't realize you could add the guest certificate later on.

It costs $0.00 for the guest certificate. :)
