Interval International Exchange - Who's done it??

I'm trying to go ahead and plan my vacation for next summer. I was wondering who has done the exchange with Interval and where did you go? How was the resort? The Good, and the bad.

We want to go somewhere tropical, Carribean, Hawaii, Mexico, Etc...

I have heard that it isn't always easy to get the dates you want at the resort you want, that is why I'm planning a year in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

While I haven't exchanged DVC I believe I have as much knowledge about the process and options as anyone. First, anything at less than 12 months out really is being behind as all II resorts can potentially deposit at 12 months out and some at 18-24 months out. You want to be searching prior to when units start being deposited. The Timeshare Users group is a great place to investigate possible resorts to put on your list. For a short list of top options here is my A list.

• Maui would be the Marriott's and Westin
• For Kaui it'd be the Marriott's.
• For Oahu simply the Marriott
• Aruba would be the Marriott's
• For the rest of the Caribbean I'd say Westin for St. John, Atlantis, Reef for Cayman's.
• MX would be the Royals for Cancun and Paradise Village for PV.

There are certainly other good resorts, these simply are the ones that come to mind as the top ones. I'd suggest nailing down your dates and putting the top resorts you are interested in. You can always add other resorts and dates later if you want.

In answer to your question... Yes, we have exchanged DVC once in 10 years, and that was to The big island of Hawaii in Kona at the Kona Coast II resort. It was a very nice resort, and we were tempted to buy a resale there, but curbed ourselves since we don't like to take that long flight more often than once every 5 years or so.
