Interval exchange

Ok, I hope I don't confuse the masses! We're staying at the Beach Club villas Jan 17-24, 2009. We got the week through Interval Exchange. My inlaws decided they wanted to come too so they're staying at Boardwalk from Jan 16-23. Here's my question...does anyone know if they can transfer to the Beach Club so they're closer to us? Since it's not a traditional Disney reservation, I didn't know how that worked? Same thing with the dates...will they allow them to stay the 17-24 instead of the 16-23. Any advice is appreciated!

Did they book through II too. If so, no they can't change their resort or week. If they booked through Disney, they can book whatever is available.

Reservations made via II exchange would need to work thru II to make any changes to the reservation. If there is availability at BCV they would likely need to pay another exchange fee to cancel the BWV reservation and rebook at BCV, but none of that can be handled thru DVC - only thru II.

On the bright side - the two resorts are directly across the lake from each other. They are the closest DVC resorts - about a 5 minute walk on the boardwalk.

Yes they booked through Interval

It doesn't hurt to ask but DVC has never, to my knowledge, altered a location or unit type for an exchange based on a request. By rule, you can't even trade with another member that has BWV and wants BCV or vice versa. They won't even change a lockoff to a dedicated 2 BR in most cases. When at VB in May I offered to take a 1 BR instead of the 2 BR we had on exchange simply because it was the 2 of us but they said they HAD to give us what was exchanged.

I have never been able to change room types, locations, or dates on inbound II exchanges into DVC. For example... in January I had a reservation for a 1BR OKW using my DVC points, followed by a 2BR OKW reservation using an inbound II exchange.

My preference was to simply open the lock-off door so I would not have to change rooms when changing from the 1BR to the 2BR. However... my II exchange was for a 2BR dedicated (no lockoff)... so the resort could not help me, and I had to switch rooms.

Luckily, our DDs were arriving just for the 2nd part of the trip... so just DW and I had to move... and the girls just arrived for the 2BR portion of the stay.
