interstate rest areas that have been closed in VA

In case anyone has missed this bit of information, budget reasons have forced the state to close 18 rest areas on interstates throughout Virginia.

Here is a list of those that have been closed from the Richmond newspaper's website

I-95 North Ladysmith
I-95 South Ladysmith
I-95 North Dale City (cars)
I-95 South Dale City (cars)

I-66 East Manassas

I-64 East Goochland
I-64 West Goochland

I-85 North Dinwiddie
I-85 South Dinwiddie
I-85 North Alberta
I-85 South Alberta

I-81 North Rural Retreat
I-81 South Smyth
I-81 North Radford
I-81 South Troutville
I-81 North Mt. Sidney
I-81 South Mt. Sidney
I-81 South New Market

Just to add -- the closures may be temporary, as both candidates in this year's governor's race have said they intend to reopen the rest areas if elected.

Thanks for the info. There is nothing worse than "needing"to stop at a rest area that is listed on a map and it not being opened.
