Hi All

going down Thanksgiving Week to SSR, 2 Bdrm.

thinking of bringing my laptop and my DD might want to bring hers too,
is there one or two connections in a 2 bdrm or should i considered bringing
a wireless router, if that's the way to go how easy is it to set up ?

thanks

I can't speak about connection in a 2 BR, but I think I have read they have 2 jacks. One in the BR and one in the living room area. I went down in August. I brought an airport express with me, and I set it up in about 3 minutes. It was nice to have wireless throughout the 1BR, for iPads and iPhones etc. When you turn it on the first time, it does say it will charge you per 24 hour use, but DVC members get it for free, so it never even appeared not he bill. You do have to go through the connection process every 24 hours, and it says it will charge you, but I even called their tech support, and they said just click the ok button, and it should not appear on the bill at checkout for DVC members. I would definately bring a wireless router so you can be free to use your devices where you feel like using them, while on vacation. I did bring an extra ethernet cable, which was supposed to be in the room, but it wasn't. I would suggest bringing one with you just in case.

The last time we stayed at SSR there was one internet connection box which was behind the end table adjacent to the sofa in the living room area. We were able to plug 2 Cat 5 cables in so that both of us could be online simultaneously. I never considered bringing a wireless router along but, now that you mentioned it, I will do that in two weeks when we're there again. Sure beats dragging along 2 fifty foot Cat 5 cables (makes the TSA nervous too). I would configure the router at home according to the owners manual or google for instructions. Then, when you plug the already configured router into the internet box in the room you will be all set to surf. You may want to configure the router to use a password protected connection to ensure that your SSR neighbors cannot hop on your wireless network at their leisure.

If you get a 2BR lock-off you'll be guaranteed two connections, one in the 1BR portion and one in the studio. If a dedicated, I'm not sure. Dedicated rooms at OKW only have 1 in the living room.

we bought a belkin n150 wireless router and it worked great at vwl. hooked up and running in about 10 minutes...we were able to connect 3 laptops...1 ipad, and all our cell phones with no problems at all. the belkin cost 29 bucks at best buy.

I agree with DHAR--get the router. It is inexpensive and it is the best solution. My thought was- with everything else I was spending for the vacation, wasnt the $29 worth my sanity?? Have fun!
