Especially Netzero users...Did you have several numbers to choose from? Which one ended up being best? Did you experience charges from Disney for the phone line...about what did it run you per minute?

Thanks!

anything that said orlando were good. some were slower than others though. the one way to check is to dial it - if it goes through without the 1 in front of the area code you're good to go.

the only charge I got was the 75 cents Disney charges for local calls each time I connected - unlimited - flat 75 cents.

Does your normal ISP have dial-up access charges? You could try them instead. Like me, I use Roadrunner and they have access numbers for Orlando. What I found was that the connection was better and faster than Juno/Netzero. I still have my free Juno/Netzero account though, just in case.

I have used PeoplePC, which came with my Comcast. Worked fine. I go along with what ob said above, check with your ISP for travel dial up, most have that, no or small fee.

Also, BC has broadband if I recall, albeit at a daily charge. I have used the Swan's broadband, their's is included in rate.

Enjoy the trip, best get packing. ::MickeyMo :hyper: ::MinnieMo

I have Netzero's free version b/c nowadays I rarely go out of town. But I do have Comcast cable at home. Is there a free version and can I download that off the Internet?

While we were there in June we stayed at Yacht Club and OKW. OKW service was $10/day, and from noon to noon. However, Yacht Club (and I'm assuming Beach Club is the same) was 24 hours for $10. They even offered the network cable if you needed it. DH had his own. You just plug in and when you open your browser window it redirects you to their site to "accept the charges" and once you say yes the countdown clock starts. You can then open any subsequent browser windows and work at T1 speed. DH tried to time it so he could get 2 days use out of it, we downloaded our trip pics each day to our family web site. Our extended family enjoyed our trip right along with us!

That's a pretty good price considering what you get.

For me, I just need about 5-10 minutes each day to check my work email. Everyone knows I'm going out of town, but I still want to be on top of things. I think using Netzero/any dial-up for 75 cents per call will work best.

We decided not to take our laptop with us. The convention center at Cornado Springs charges $10 for 15 minutes if you use their business center and their computer.

Looks like Comcast doesn't have dial-up access numbers, but here are Netzero's numbers that are definitely local:

(407) 506-0083 56k (V.90) Orlando, FL
(407) 541-0601 56k (V.90) Orlando, FL
(407) 641-4283 56k (V.90/V.92) Orlando, FL

I've found that the 641-4283 number is the fastest (if you can call 22.8 fast - LOL)

Just be sure that you're under your 10 hrs/month limit and you should be fine. The only problem I found is just the slowness in page loading. If you're just doing email it should be fine, for loading heavy graphics pages you're sol.

Have fun!!!!
