Okay, so I'm sitting here, extremely frustrated that it's taking SOOOOOOOOOO long to load a daggone webpage thanks to a certain evil phone company and their unwillingness to upgrade the lines to digital. Long story short, I'm still in the dark ages of internet browsing...

Who else is with me?

This is already a very hot topic. Going back a ways, when We The People decided that folks in rural areas needed something that was much more expensive to provide to rural areas than urban areas, let's say, electric power or telephone service, We The People effectively put up the money to pay for it, either directly or through taxes and fees imposed on everyone earmarked for building service out to the remote farms and villages. There is such a fear of voters' reaction to new taxes and fees these days, though, that that's going to be very difficult to put in place. So until voters become more realistic, we can expect high-speed broadband service to the boondocks to be inconsistent.

Sad thing is, we're not in the boonies! We are "technically" within the city limits... just on the edge. Evil Phone & Company won't update our lines. If we get a good amount of rain, our phone goes out.

We can but it costs over $100/month for TV and internet. Their internet alone is $60 - WAY more than it should be...

I have Verizon Fios with Wi-Fi and think it's the best thing since sliced bread. It's really powerful IMO. I can be on my laptop, DS can be on his also with his XBox Live going, and my husband watches TV all at the same time, and it just whizzes along, no problem.

Just moved from rural WA with dial-up to AZ and high speed. I am in heaven
