In the past view days our ability to use Search from the IE tool bar has not been working. When Search opens it is either blank or Page is currently not available. We've tried changing search services but nothing seems to be working. On occasion tonight I have gotten an error and a dialog box that continuously pops up, that won't go away without ending the task. I'm sure something has hijacked our search function, but can't figure out how to put it back the way it was. Any one have any ideas?

We're running WinXP Pro.

Personally, I never use IE search. I usually use Google. You can download a google add on to IE that puts a google search box on your tool bar.

It's funny I just posted this problem on another thread. 'Make me search' dot com has taken over my IE. It keeps changing my homepage to it. Of course I keep changing it back to Yahoo! I don't know where this thing came from! Sheesh!

Sounds like you've got a Browzer hijack. Run a virus scan and spyware and that should take care of it. Make sure you check in your add/remove programs for anything that looks suspicious and remove them. Also, delete your temprary internet files too.

Another vote for the google toolbar here!

while the google toolbar is very useful it only stops popups NOT spyware/browser hijacks.

and we always use spybot..we have not been hijacked..sometimes the search page works fine..then the next minute it doesn't..I have taken to using dogpile or google instead!

I found it! I clicked a link in an email that ordinarily would have timed out and returned a Page Cannot be Diplayed message. Instead, this InstaFinder screen appears when the page didn't load in a certain time. BINGO! I went to my Add/Remove Programs folder and there it was . I removed it and now MSN Search is loading when I click Search from the toolbar.
