Hi:
I don't know if this is the right forum or if anyone can help, but here's the problem. When I go to sites that I have visited in the past, i.e., my bank, msn, I get a message that there is a Certificate Error Navigation Blocked. I have looked everywhere within Internet Explorer and can't find a way to fix this. A friend mentioned it could be in the security portion, but when I look there, I don't know what I'm looking at to fix it. The friend doesn't have the knowledge to help, just mentioned that she had heard someone had had the problem and that they went into security. Any suggestions or help would be great. By the way, I can access these sites from my work computer with no problem and I haven't changed anything or added any programs that could have caused this problem on my computer. Thanks so much.

Check that the time and date on your computer is correct. If it is an older computer the battery on the motherboard that keeps the systems cmos data and system time may be old and in need of being replaced. On most systems it is a CR2032 watch battery that you can find in most local drugstores. Check your system documentation to be sure. If your system thinks it's 2007 and the certificate from the site you are visiting is dated 2009 this is just the kind of error you will get.

If you want to verify the security settings in Internet Explorer, do the following : While in IE, go to Tools on the menu bar, select Internet Options, and click on the tab labeled Security. The Internet Zone should be highlighted, and on my pc the security level is set to medium-high. If you are not sure if your is set correctly, you can just click on "reset to defaults" and it will reset to the original Windows settings.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. I will give that a try. My laptop is not very old and I usually have it plugged into power so that it's not on battery very often. I am at work right now but when I get home, I will try what you suggested and hope it works. Again, thank you.
