I had a ton of problems with pop ups, adware, trojans, etc. Got them all cleaned up and things seem to be ok. But now I keep getting internet explorer errors that shut me down. Is there a site where I can fix this. Can I download an uncorrupted version of internet explorer, then delete this one? Help if you can.

you will do nothing and like it

Im just an optimist by nature

What operating system are you using and what version of IE? Click on "help" than "about..."

This is funny cause I'm having the same problems with internet explorer. It lost my smiley central toolbar. I'm unable to reinstall it. I keep getting the same error that shuts me down, annoying pop ups, adware. It's becoming a real pain in the duppa!!!

*IMPORTANT*
Before you uninstall it, click on this link and download the IE6 installer program

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie6sp1/finrel/6_sp1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/ie6setup.exe

I got the info from here. I didn't read it all but you might want to.

Use the add/remove programs tool and click (on the left side) "windows components" and uncheck Internet Explorer. Then "next" then "finish".

Then run the installer program. Then under "tools" click on "windows updates" follow the prompts to get any updates that might not be included in the installer.

J.Cooper - you do know that most spyware software is going to remove components of Smiley Central from your system and very likely the 'plugin' itself as spyware? Have you seen that 'mysearch' toolbar, or 'myweb' that it installs? That's big time spyware.

So once you get your IE back up and running, I would suggest NOT using smiley Central. Do a google search on 'smiley central spyware' and see what you come up with....

I have problems off and on with IE also. I find that after I run my Ad-Aware and Spybot the problem stop. After a week or so goes by, it starts up again. I would think that maybe the problem is really not IE but tenacious ads in your computer.

I run spy-bot (it runs in memory) and Norton Internet Security 2004 and I'm behind a router. I hardly get any (rarely) pop ups and my IE runs normal.

We had the same problem with error messages from internet explorer. We already had SpyBot and the virus protection that came with the computer. DH installed a more powerful virus protector and it found over 250 files infected with what looked like variants of three viruses including "my doom". The virus protection that came with the computer had not detected any of these. (I didn't realize that there are different levels of virus protection. A DSL guy I talked with before installing the new software said that the virus protection that came with the computer was "low level" virus protection). We haven't had any problems (knock on wood) since we installed the more powerful virus protection.:D
