Absolutely loved the in cabin internet access on Royal Caribbean and am worried about not having that on Disney. (self-employed) .... Can I plug in my own laptop in the internet cafe?

You can not plug your laptop into the ship's Internet cafe.

If you want to use your laptop for the internet in your stateroom, you might be able to...

BUT...

Ship-to-shore rates (well over $6.00 a minute, probably more), will apply.

The Internet Cafe connection is ok for email, but not for much else. It's far from broadband. I checked the bandwidth twice on the member cruise and got in the high 40K's. I didn't even open my laptop on the cruise - just checked email once each evening.

You cannot connect your laptop to the Internet Cafe network. I wouldn't try to do dial up from my room as the per minute charges are highly expensive. Some people with Verizon cellular were able to get cell phone service while at Castaway Cay, but I don't know what the per minute charges are. Probably not the same as free U.S. domestic long distance.
