I'm a computer engineer (yes, a geek) who loves to know all the technical details. I took a behind-the-scenes Imagineer tour at WDW several years ago and it was amazing. What type of network connection is used in the Internet Cafe? Is it is mobile wireless broadband? Where are the transmitters? How reliable are the connections and what is the data rate? At $.75 a minute (EGAD!) I would hate to have a pokey connection (not that I'm considering spending much time in there, I am on vacation after all). I would love to get a look at the network setup.

Speaking from ship experience, the internet is slightly slower than most cable modems and DSL, but it's a lot faster than dial up. It just depends where you happen to be and what you're trying to look at. At port, it's generally faster than when you're in the middle of the ocean. As for the dependability of the connection, I've never known it to fail, no matter what time of day or the weather. Yes, $0.75 seems a little high, but if you plan on using internet a lot on the cruise, they offer unlimited access for a flat fee ($90 for a week on the Magic). And it's also neat to e-mail your friends and family from the middle of the ocean!! Also, if you don't want to e-mail from the ship, most ports that you stop at have internet cafes in them not to far from the ship and are usually around $2 to $4 per hour.

I used it several times to email my SIL who was playing nanny to our baby!Twice I lost internet connection, and had to sign back on...thus, losing the emails I had started. It was very frustrating! I complained and was credited for the times I had problems. 75 cents adds up quick, let me tell you. If there is problems, talk to the internet manager and she will take good care of you.
