I have been searching for an Olympus C-8080 camera on-line for a few weeks.

I thought I had an order placed at a really good price ($535.00). We declined the "special packages" ($800.00) When my DW called the company to check on the status, we found it had not been placed.

So she went around to other sites and found that all the internet sites for these great camera "deals" all work the same way. The give a reasonable price ($550.00 -$600.00) on their websites. When called they would say they had the camera in stock. Then launch on their "special package deals" for 800 +. When we declined the deal, they would suddenly not have the camera in stock. Also interesting was that all of the phone numbers we called for the websites were located in New York.

Anybody else have these kinds of days with internet shopping?

::yes:: ::yes:: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I haven't actually had this happen to me because after reading warnings about this exact situation with several companies and wanting a service plan I decided that buying locally made the best economical sense for me.

wow, thats interesting. Had no idea that scam was going on. thanks for the heads up!
