Internet access on the ship or off?

My DH has to check his work emails once in a while (I hope!) while we are on the 7 night cruise on the Magic at the end of October. Is it better to use the internet on the ship or is it possible to find internet cafes in St. Thomas and St. Maarten close by to where the ship docks?

Does anyone know how much the internet costs on the ship? Or how much internet cafes at the ports of call would cost? I've never been in an internet cafe so I'm a real newbie at this!

There are 2 plans on the ship, either you can take advantage of the unlimited access for $89.99 or if he's not going to be on very long, they have access at $.75 per minute ..... Andy

Does anyone know whether it would be better (ie. less expensive) to find an internet cafe at the ports of call and check emails there instead of using the service on the Magic?
