I'm Canadian, I bought in 2007 then again in 2008. When I bought my main travel time was May (yes I took the kids out of school). Fast forward---kids grew up, my travel time changed to end of the year through February. My April UY isn't very good for that, but I've been fortunate not to have needed to cancel last minute. Just be aware that travel habits can change over the years.
One thing you might consider when choosing your resort though, BWV has no quick service restaurant, aside from pastry and coffee at the Bellevue Lounge. There are a few more options if you're up for walking to Boardwalk Bakery in the morning. BC only has BC Market Place which is a combined grab and go/gift shop. The offerings are quite good though and there are tables outside near the entrance. Those things don't bother me, I've always been a breakfast in the room sort.
I haven't any regrets about buying, but the current 30+% exchange rate stops me from buying more. Maybe that's a good thing.
I've also sold a contract which wasn't a big hassle through a broker. It was a very small contract and I decided not to claim anything back on FIRTPA as the cost to have the company recommended file it, would have left me with only $90. I did get a letter from IRS giving me instructions to claim, but stating it wasn't required.
