International Palms Resort near Universal??

I was super excited to learn my husband had a conference for work in Orlando April 18-20, and that I could tag along!! Of course my first thought was that we could make a Disney trip out of it!! Now after the room has been booked where the conference is (International Palms) I got on-line to check out the reviews and apparently the place is a dump!! Has anyone ever stayed there that can confirm or deny the other reviews I read?? I am terrified that our trip is going to be awful and I will want to sleep on a park bench at Magic Kingdom!! I appreciate any help!!

I haven't stayed there but, I took my son to a Pokemon event there last year. They were in the middle of major renovations. The meeting room and lobby were really nice. They had a nice onsite rest. and a small conv. store with a pizza hut express in it. Maybe the bad reviews were from before the renovations?

My aunt just booked a trip at the International Palms in April as well. For 5 nights she got a rate of just less than $300-DURING spring break. I read reviews on Trip Advisor and more so than not, people were complaining about the "hidden" resort fees. If you booked on the hotel's website the charge is right there in front of you. However, I bet most people book through Priceline/Hotwire and that's why they aren't required to pay the resort fee until check-in/out. It's good to hear that they are going through renovations. The pictures actually didn't look that bad. Don't worry about it, you'll be fine!!! Have fun!!!

We booked directly through their website, too...and got a Deluxe King room for $59 a night. I sure hope that the renovations will be done and it will be fine for your aunt's AND my sake!!
