International College Program: Summer Work Experience

Hey guys!

I'm a Canadian college student and I was wondering if there is anyone on here who has been through or is going through the International College Program: Summer Work Experience.

I have a bunch of questions but I'll just start with these:
- In what month does the summer program start? I graduate in April 2012 so I was hoping to do the program that summer. Am I still eligible to apply then even though I'd have already graduated?
- What apartment complex do the international students usually go to?
- I saw that the Yummy Jobs office is in Michigan. Will I have to travel there for an interview?
- Does my college have to be associated with one of the American uni/colleges?

The Disney International Programs - International College Program Summer Work Experience runs from approximately May to August, but may have different dates based upon labour demands. All Participants must be enrolled at a recognized post-secondary institution and must enrol for another term upon their return.

DIP - ICPSWE Participants are spread out among three of the available Florida-Site Disney Internships & Programs housing complexes.

While the Yummy Jobs office for Canadian recruitment is based out of Michigan, interviews and presentations are conducted at locations across Canada, including, but not limited to, the following: Vancouver, British Columbia; Toronto, Ontario; Montréal, Quebec and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

For the Disney International Program - International College Program Summer Work Experience, Participants do not have to attend a specific post-secondary institution.

I was looking a little more into the program and I saw that this was posted on how to qualify:
"Be a student enrolled in an accredited, degree-issuing college or university; and returning to school for at least one term following the program; Students can also participate in the program immediately following graduation."
So this must mean that I can qualify even after I graduate in April, right?

I'm from the UK, and I'm doing the International College Program/Summer work experience this summer. I start in June and I will be on attractions

Here in the UK, we too have to apply through Yummy Jobs.

You asked about when to apply. Here in the UK, we can only apply when YummyJobs open the applications on their website. For the summer work experience 2011, the applications opened at the end of June 2010, and they were open until October 2010. It might be slightly different for Canadian applicants, but this just gives you an idea.

I'm sure it'll tell you for definite on the yummyjobs website.

Also, do you know about the WDW International Program forums? You can find them at http://www.wdwip.com/smf/

I used them when I was applying and I still take a look at them now. There were lots of international people on there

Unfortunately I don't think I can do the International College Program. I'm in college but once I graduate (in April 2012) I won't be receiving a degree. Instead I'll be getting a diploma. Which kind of sucks because my program is full-time and two years. I think I deserve a degree!
So unless Disney makes exceptions for college students with good marks (but are receiving a diploma), then I'll be stuck with only the Cultural Rep. Program.

But the cultural representative program - now that will be AWESOME You get to spend a whole year at Epcot, while I only get to spend 10 weeks

I will probably go for the Cultural Rep. Program. Spending a year in Florida will be better than spending a winter in Canada! But it would have been cool to experience the college program and be able to work at different spots around WDW rather than working in the one pavilion. Oh well.

Hello fellow Canuck!

I'm actually in the process of applying this year - Got my face to face interview on the 28th!

Anyways, glendalais is correct, however they don't offer the interviews in each city every year. This year they're in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver (Same as last year)

The Canadian students generally end up going down from the beginning of May to the end of July.

You may want to contact YummyJobs to see if you can go - I'm pretty sure that there's a few people with college diplomas who are applying, so you may be alright!

And I'm good if the interview is in Toronto. I'm about an hours drive away.

I e-mailed Kristen at the Canadian Yummy Jobs office and sadly got turned down about the Int. College Program.
She said:
"I do regret that if you are not in university, or are not studying for a Bachelors degree we would be unable to consider you for the Disney Summer Program however we would welcome you to apply for the 1 Year Cultural Representative Program."
Oh well. I tried.
I'd try for the Disney Professional Internship Program but I think it's only for American students.
