International Arrivals at MCO

Here is another point of view

My party of 4 is on the same flight as you. We have managed to be off the

plane before you & have gone through customs & put our 4 cases

onto carousel & now we are going towards the monorail.

Unfortunately for us there is a large group of people , in front of us, struggling to carry / drag

a bout 9 suitcases up escalators & onto monorail.

It did not help that there were children , very tired looking , in the group.

Then when monorail arrived chaos happened . Some of the group got on

& some luggage got stuck ( The coach was Full by this time ) so they had to wait for next train.

My mood was not helped by one of the party scraoing my leg with a large heavy case.

My mood level lowered again as this large group insisted to proceed slowly towards the exit in a group and other passengers were unable to pass them out.

Why did they not put All their luggage onto the 2nd belt And everyone would be happy & have a feel good start to holidays ?

This is not in the least bit helpful. I also don't see what having tired looking children has to do with anything? Orlando is a family destination there will be a lot of children and at times you will get tired ones ;) You will also find loud ones, excited ones, happy ones and crying ones ;)

Everyone wants to get out of the airport ASAP and there will always be other passengers that can slow you down as it is a large airport.

For what it's worth the transit between terminals is very frequent and vary rarely completely full.

It shouldn't matter what someone else is doing - focus on your family :thumbsup2

Hi

When we went Sept 2013, grandson was in his pushchair and they allowed my daughter with grandson in the lift. We had to take the luggage up the escalator.

We waited close to 55 mins last October. However, with 2 adults, one child who needed hand holding, 3 (wheeled) cases, 3 hand luggage, a car seat and a (folded) buggy, there was no way we could make it up the escalator. I really don't see how your 2 available adults can move 10 cases. Even the 2 other adults managing 2 infants, a disabled child and 3 other kids is ambitious. The staff manning the luggage drop off and guarding the entrance to the escalators were not going to take any kind of messing about when we were there, so don't expect any help or sympathy - they'll bellow at you until you put your luggage on that belt!

You can access all the airport land side shops and food outlets, so maybe take everyone for a drink /snack, and sort out hire cars in that waiting time? And you may be luckier than we were with wait times....

Next trip is August 2014, there will be 10 of us (4 adults, 4 children and 2 infants) and we will have 9 or 10 cases.

Just another idea........Do any of your cases stack together? I don't mean inside one an other. Our are the type that you can drag two cases as one. The second case attaches at the top and lays on the case underneath. It makes them very heavy but its dead handy. We also have two cases that aren't designed to do that but we have still managed to some how with a strap attach them in the same way. If they older children aren't too tired they may be able to pull smaller cases for you. :)

We were stopped and told we had to put our cases onto the second belt. It was just me and DH with one case and a carryon bag. We said no we wanted to take them and they would not let us.
I believe this is an isolated event but be aware it can happen. We waited 40+ mins for our bags

Not looking hopeful. Guess I will have to just wait for the bags to come over on the baggage belt :sad2:

How old are the four children. I (as an adult) managed two cases so with four adults you should be able to manage 8. That means you just need two able kids! Unless of course you have pushchairs. In which case it does sadly look like you're stuffed. It's a stupid system IMO but good luck. Getting up that goddam escalator and planning for it was the most stressful part of my last trip......

There never used to be an escalator there and all luggage had to be put on the second baggage belt!

I am sorry but with only 4 adults and 10 suitcases plus a pushchair I think you have no choice really.

Like another poster suggested why not stop and get a drink from the food court once you reach the main terminal rather than rushing straight to the baggage belt. Our luggage took a good 20 minutes when arriving off a domestic flight in April.

I was actually thinking that my 9 year old could push the double pram, she does this at home anyway.

That would leave 3 adults on luggage duty along with a 7 and a 6 year old. They could actually push the 2 Disney cases as they have 4 wheels. The adult with disabled child could pull a case along so that would leave 5-7 cases to be handled by 3 adults. So its not impossible!!! Difficult but certainly doable.
