Does anyone know where I can get interior photos of the Auto Train?

THANKS

The website below has a great explanation of the Auto-Train:

http://communities.prodigy.net/trains/amthints.htm

If you click on the ACCOMMODATIONS link, it gives you links to pictures that are buried in the Trainweb.com website. The Auto-Train uses SUPER-LINER equipment, so click around and look for pictures of the Superliner rooms.

If you have any more questions, let me know and I'll try to answer them for your. We traveled the Auto-Train last August and loved it. We booked it (a while back) for out next trip this December. We (just 2 of us) like the Standard Bedroom. It's small, but workable for the two of us. Since it's just overnight, it really is not too bad at all...

Would anyone know where you get on the AutoTrain? I tried to look on the link but I must not be looking at the right place. Thank you, slightly Goofy

Slightly Goofy, you board the AutoTrain in Lorton, VA. (The exit off of I-95 is very well marked, if that's the road you'll be traveling on.) You get off the train in Sanford, FL. :)

Dear Mim, thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. If this is the only route with only one pick up I could not use this service. It would have been so great tho as our next trip may be our last as I have health problems and (almost) door to door transportation would have been great. I could not get my DH to drive before and now it would be impossible.

Lorton to Sanford, Florida is the only Auto-Train route. There have been proposals for years to expand the service along the west coast, but don't hold your breath.

However, Amtrak does operate conventional trains across the nation (although there are big gaps among the routes, including South Dakota, Wyoming, and here in East Tennessee. The train accomodations are similar or identical to those found on Auto-Train, only you cannot bring your car along. If this suggestion helps, call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL and ask for a 2001 Travel Planner, or try Amtrak's own website http://www.amtrak.com/trains/silverservice.html
