1. Sears paint I HATE the stuff not used in years but never had good luck with it inside or outside.

I've used Sherwin Williams semi gloss in the past I've been very happy with but it's a bit pricey an I gonna need at least 5 gallons maybe a little more not figured my sq ft an paint yet. No more than 10 gallons

Whatever kind of paint I get I'll get the semi gloss love that it can be washed an etc it's not a job I do every 2 yrs like a lot of ppl.

I will be painting the whole interior of a house lucky for me the walls are a light neutral color so no kilz etc needed just a fresh coat of paint before we move in.

TIA

Best paint for the money is hands down Valspar (Lowe's). Make sure you get the nicer tier of it though. It's somewhere in the $30/gal range.

There is no need to use semi-gloss anymore to be able to wash the walls. You should be very happy with the performance of Satin for sure, and possibly Eggshell finish. I use Eggshell everywhere and it has just the slightest sheen. Valspar is awesome for interior paint. You'll be sorry if you get Behr!

PS: I didn't know Sears had paint??? LOL!

Once you've tried Benjamin Moore, you'll never go back. Also, primer and two coats is the minimum I'll accept. It just looks sooooo much better. And, I use semi-gloss everywhere. My feeling is if you're going to live in it, it should look as good as possible. Nothing is worse than flat walls of thin paint-environmentally, that is.

I only buy the Valspar from Lowe's that has the primer built in. Two coats is plenty for any colors I have tried ( light and dark).

My friend loves Benjamin Moore! I'm going to use it on the next room I paint.

I agree with the Valspar and that satin is washable and less shine off the walls. I only like semi gloss in kitchens and bathrooms. In a living room or bedroom I prefer less shine and have never had problems with cleaning satin paint and always use a magic eraser on scuffs and marks. If you are using a lot of the same color it is cheaper to buy a 5 gallon bucket.

My DH is a professional house painter and he's tried everything in his 20 years of painting. I asked him what paint is good but not too expensive. He said one of the best is manor hall paint which he buys at Copps hardware. He said benjamin moore super spec paint is good too and diamond from Colour your world.

Behr paint from home depot is rated first consumer reports.

We had a terrible experience with the "new" HGTV paint from Sherwin. Ended up using 8 total coats...1 primer, 4 HGTV, then the "better" primer and Sherwin's Super Paint (2 coats) that they replaced the LOUSY HGTV paint with. I will never, NEVER use them again, despite the replacement of the paint, because it took so much of my time. It took me 2 weeks to paint our new kitchen, a 2 day job.

The next project after the kitchen was to re-do an upstairs bedroom for our foreign exchange "son." The room was light peach; he wanted navy blue. I bought one gallon of the Behr Premium Plus with primer in it. Two coats, easy as can be, on very textured walls. I went semi-gloss too because navy is so dark! I'm sold for life, after that horrible kitchen experience!

I can second the quality of Behr paint, We used it to paint the inside of our new house and it is 9 years later and it still looks great.

We painted almost our entire house before we moved in less than 2 years ago and I used Sherwin Williams Superpaint and SW Duration. Love the Duration, but it's a little pricier. I like the Superpaint just fine, though. I always get the satin finish. I bought the Behr at Home Depot in the Mickey colors to do my son's room and it just didn't go on as nicely or smoothly as the SW paint and took more coats.

Yuck, I had the million coats thing happen but not because the paint was bad since it covered every other wall but because the paint was bright green. :scared1: I was crying by the 6th coat. Some colors are awful to paint over.

I've always used Behr and have loved it- it's nice and thick, no drips. My dd though swears by Benjamin Moore. She's bought the no or low VOC- there was a groupon for 1/2 off anything at Ace Hardware so she bought her paint that way and saved a bundle. We're moving soon so I'm hoping for another groupon deal like that one!
