Called tonight to pay deposit on room only ressies.

I asked her a couple of questions that I thought I already knew the answers to.

She said that some room only codes (like those for the general public) can be applied to packages.

Did not know this, in fact I think I posted this question and everyone said no way.

I for one willl be chaning to a package with dining, if and when codes come out!!!
:cool1:

Don't know if it is true, or not, but it is definitely something worth trying! Good luck!:)

Isn't that the same things is what us AAA members did. Didn't we apply the "AAA code" to each of our room only portions of our packages to get our discount.

I wish you luck. I have a room only discount that I got 2 months ago and Disney will not apply it to a package deal with dinning! I tried 3 different cm's, my AAA agent and they will not do it ! Plus I just found out that Disney has increased their list of signature restarants ( which equals 2 meals on the new dinning plan).

In the past when Disney offered a room only code (three letters), there was a package code (four letters) that went along with it. These room only and package codes were much less than the AAA discounts.

I'm hoping Disney offers a code for late April. If not, I'll keep my AAA package.

I was able to use the AAA discount off the room portion of my package, but I had to do this directly through AAA. I saved 15% off the room portion of my package. Better than nothing. :D

drumflower, would you mind posting which restaurants now are signature restaurants that weren't before? Thanks!

The only ones that I know about is Brown Derby and Le Cellier. I guess the dis site says Alfredo is part of the pemuium package. It seems like all of the nicest restaraunts in each park is either a signature restaurant or not available for the plan like Rainforest Cafe at AK. :(

Thanks! You'd think Disney would have had all that figured out before releasing the initial info.

Well changing Le Cellier just made the meal plan less of a value for us. Think we will be better off without the meal plan and eating there for lunch like we normally do.

Im really surprised that there is only 1 restaurant in the downtown disney area...I wonder if they will continue to change this and add some.

Thanks for the link!

They also took away Rainforest Cafe from Animal Kingdom. So there is no sitdown at AK, MGM only sit down is Brown Derby which is = to 2 meals. Then at Epcot, since the french place and Alfredo's is only available on the Premium plan, and LeCellier is now a 2 meal place, what value is the dinning plan? It still is a value when only looking at the dinning part, but remember you have to pay rack rate for your hotel. So again, Disney isn't Magic your Way, it is Greed Disney's Way.

I'm sure the reason Rainforest and most of the restaurants at Downtown Disney are not part of the package is because they are not "owned" by Disney. Cap'n Jacks is the only Disney owned restaurant at Downtown Disney. All others are owned by outside companies.

If you notice when you charge to your room key at Rainforest and the Downtown Disney restaurants they do it slightly different because they have to send a batch to the resort charging system. They are not linked directly into the system.

Rainforest even though not owned by Disney has been a part of their dining plan for years with the silver and gold plan.

If this were the case, then why (I wonder) were the DD restaurants included in the Silver and Gold Packages?

Maybe it costs Disney more when people eat at those restaurants and so they decided to discontinue offering them. Or maybe they had to renegotiate contracts with them for the new plan and couldn't work it out.

you could be right, Im sure there are lots of reasons why, the only restaurant I ate at in Downtown was Fultons when we were on the Silver Plan, but now we have the Gold Plan booked for Sept and might change it to the Premium plan, so we won't miss out on much since we will only miss out on Fultons.

Thanks for the quick reply :D

I am no Disney expert, but here is my intuition about discounts and the package: They aren't going to let you retrofit the package to previously announced general public room discounts but will for discounts in the future. I bet the room-only discounts will be less than we're used to and might be fewer. At least that is the state of delusion I am living in, really want to do the package and stay Poly concierge in December - absolutely need a code to make that happen.
