Interesting statement on disneyworld.com survey

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not, my apologies. I also searched for this, but didn't come up with anything so hopefully this isn't something that's old hat to all the "regulars"! :)

Ok, anyway, I'm starting to plan our next trip, so I went to www.disneyworld.com today. Right after the page loaded, I got a little pop-up asking me to take a survey. Ok fine, baby's napping, I have time. The survey gave you two things, like deluxe hotels and miniature golf for instance, and you rate on how likely it would seem to find those two things together on the website.

I got about halfway through the survey, and got a question asking about deluxe hotels versus dining reservations. Specifically, it said something like "dining reservations-book a meal at a WDW restaurant". I can't remember the exact wording, but it was not talking about the dining section of the site. It specifially mentioned reservations and booking your meals.

So my question is.....is WDW toying with the idea of putting their dining reservations system online? I'm not sure if this would be an easier thing, or make things more frustrating. Has anyone else seen this? I may be way behind the times, you all may already know all this!! :rotfl2:

I have sort of heard talk about this... wouldn't that be great instead of having to call Dining...

I wouldn't be surprised, it would save them tons of money in labor, phones and other associated costs. Of course it could prove problematic in some respects as well.

If it's anything like Disney Cruise Line's on-line reservation system for excursions, spa treatments, Palo, etc ... the darn thing will either move as slow as a tar river or it will just crash every day. :lmao:

I think I'd rather make the phone call at this point.

The problem with all of Dsney's sites is they all use go.com, back when they first started (before buying go.com) the site were much faster and I had dial up then! Really, they need a lot more bandwidth or divide them up onto different systems.

I think it is a great idea- IN THEORY.

Imagine all the people logging on to get CRT ressies exactly at the 180 day mark (or whatever it is now and yes all you people know you would stay up until midnight and beyond to do it lol):surfweb: Total system meltdown! Now if they could figure out how to do it an make it work I would be all for it. Actually I would perfer it:thumbsup2

I have heard of this too, and I hope they do it. It would be much easier to change ADR's instead of calling every time......of course, only if they do it right and people's ADR's won't get lost or mixed up.

While this would be a terrific system in some aspects I cannot imagine the horrors it would also bring. I can only imagine the bots that could be created to make ADR's for a person. What can be used for good, can be used for bad as well. We already see ticket companies online having to up their security because of Hannah Montana tickets..

I would have much rather made my ADRs online.

I second that, BUT, only if the site is guaranteed not to be a super slow as the disney shopping website. I don't know if it's just me, but when I shop online at disney, it takes FOREVER!!!!!!!

This would be a great way to make your ADR's. But I can see it taking 6 months just to make your ADR's. ;) Disney's site are so slow............. at times. I would just as soon stick with the way they are doing it now.

It's interesting that so many like the idea, at least in theory. I don't think that they could totally do away with ADR's by phone anyway, there are some people who still don't have internet access to be able to do it online. So maybe they're thinking of having both? :confused3

I have often thought this would be a great idea, but then I thought about it putting a lot of phone operators out of work. I would assume they would most likely need to beef up their IT department to maintain the site so letting employees go may not save them any money...I believe all Disney employees are in a Union and that would make it harder to do if the employees aren't for it. :thumbsup2
