Interesting responses on preferred sites and pet loops

I made a change to our reservation today (for a stay in May) and received some interesting, and a bit unsettling, information from the Disney travel agent. When I first made the reservation, that travel agent told me that there were specific 'preferred' loops - 100, 200, and 300 - and that I would be in one of those. When I stated that we would be bringing our dog, she said that the preferred pet loop was 300, so we would be in that. I thought this was good news, because 300 looked like a good location (we'd like to do some fishing while we are there).

So, I called to day to extend our stay a few days, and the agent today had something different to say about pets and preferred loops. What she told me was that, if you bring a pet, and have a reservation for a preferred site, they will put you in a preferred location within a pet loop. She explained this to mean a larger site that was closer to the transportation area for that loop, but not necessarily in a loop that was closer to anything desirable, and not necessarily in a preferred loop. I also asked to confirm that the pet loop was guaranteed, and she replied that, by stating that you will be bringing a pet with you, you are just adding a special request to your reservation - which will be granted, if possible - but not guaranteed. She informed me that, if there were no pet sites, there is a kennel nearby that we would be directed to  .

I ended up having to make a second change today, and spoke with a different person. He mentioned that I could request a specific loop if I wanted to, and told me that loop 300 was a pet loop. I added that request to my reservation. I guess that I will have to keep my fingers crossed.

Yes 300 is a pet loop and a perffered NOT a premium all sites are becoming preffered that is they all will have cable premium being bigger sites with new picnic tables and grills and cable we also requested the 300 loop for Oct 08 if you do get it there is good fishing from the canal and by the spill way where the lake drains into the canal the biggest problem is grass you may want to wade out in the water to get beyond them but i have caught some small 1-2 lb bass there on artifical baits but have heard wth bait you can catch sunfish in canal along with bass i did see a very large carp there also when we went in Nov 07 i only fished a few hrs 3-4 days so good luck and i'll try to post more when i get back on this Oct's trip

I think that the agents are trained to emphasize that nothing is guaranteed, except that you have a reservation. We have experienced this at FW and just got a similar song and dance about getting a connecting room at All Star. I understand they don't want people left with the impression that they will get exactly what they want every time, but I think they have taken it a little too far, to the point it can leave you unsettled and concerned, for no real reason.

I don't think you will have any problems. There used to only be four pet loops 1600, 1700, 1800, & 1900 that are the full hook-up and the 300 loop for preferred. We went over today and found that they have opened up more loops: 300, 700, 800, 1600, 1700, 1800, and 1900 although the 1900 loop is closed right now. Also, the 500 loop and the 900 loop are overflow pet loops so if you couldn't get into the 300 loop, you could still get into the 500 which is just across the street from the 300.

If you don't necessarily have to have the preferred loop, than you have a lot of options. The fishing area really isn't that far from the 1600-1900 loops and the only difference is that they have cable hook-up.

You can request certain loops and even certain sites. We've never had a problem getting the loop we request, only a few times with the specific site. We've been there in May and as long as you aren't camping over Memorial Day Weekend, you shouldn't have a problem getting into the preferred pet loops. The reservation folks usually tell you that the sites and loops can't be guaranteed, which is true, but every time we have found a nice person at check-in that will accomodate us.
