Interesting Reservation Quote

A friend called to make reservations around X-mas. She inquired about different hotels and packages. In December all three of her kids will be over the age of three so she was expecting not to be able to stay at those resorts that hold only four persons. The person taking her call said that if she booked a package it today they would book it based on her children's ages now. Well one of the kids turn three between now and December. She said that not only could she stay at the value resorts with one room but also the child would not need a ticket because all the paper work would be processed now. I told her that I had never heard of this. She isn't trying to cheat the system. She fully intended to book a room for five and get a ticket for the three year old. Has anyone had any experience with this? I don't want her to get down there and have difficulties. Again this was all suggested to her by the person taking the reservations.

Dosen't sound right to me and personally I would not book it based on that information.

I have always been asked the ages the children will be "during the trip". I remember this clearly as my dd turns 9 during our next trip and I had to stop and think a minute before 8 slipped out.

I have read that if a child turns 3 during the trip they don't need a ticket or that if a child turns 10 during the trip they don't need to upgrade.

Some people make plans a year or more in advance - this would allow a 4-5 yo to be admitted free if they were 3 when the trip was booked. I can't imagine explaining this at the turnstyle!!

I'd tell your friend she got bad info. The Disney site asks for age at time of travel.

Whenever we book, through WDW directly they ask the children's birthdates. All of my children's birthdates are in the WDW computer system so obviously WDW would know exactly how old my children are during our stay.

Did she make the inquiry directly with WDW? You mention that she inquired about different hotels and packages, was this possibly with a travel agent that does WDW vacations.

I hope she gets the proper information before she pays any money.

I agree. They always ask for the birthdates of the children when we made reservations. This could definitely cause problems later if she books without giving the ages at the time of the trip. Nothing would be worse than showing up at WDW and having them tell you that you need to pay extra because the kids are over 3. Just better to do it right to begin with. I would call back and talk to another CM.

I agree with the above posters. I remember CRO asking me how old my children would be during the time of travel. They also have my children's ages in their system. Sounds like misinformation.

I don't know if the info is good or bad...but it was done to me twice. Last year I made the ressie when my daughter was 2 but she turned three before the trip. WHen the agent asked me her age I said 2 but she will be three by the time we travel....she said , I need her age now, not on the trip.....she was totally free.

This year ditto....she was 3 and just turned 4 we are leaving in 30 days. This year again same question same answer. It even caused me some problems as when I tried to book the never land club and tea party...the agent said your daughter has to be 4....I said she already is 4, but she was 3 when I made the ressie..she acted like this was totally common place....and accepted her for the tea party etc.

I am a school teacher and a rule follower...I was not trying to break any rules and pointed out to both agents my daughters changing age....both years I was told that they neede the age at the time of the booking...
