Okay, okay, I stand corrected. That was rather fun. :bounce: :) I borrwed the tape from a couple of friends after discovering they had the set. I'm going to have to go get them for myself. :D That 60 second video preview I saw that made me decide not to get WATP sure didn't do the show justice.

But, what I discovered is just how much help Tai Chi really is. I know, I know, y'all are getting tired of me making these observations :teeth: , but they're just so amazing to me! I'm floored that here it is, just over a month since I first came to WISH, and I'm *still* doing exercise regularly! Well, the interesting thing is I *know* that just a month ago, I would have been huffing, puffing, and collapsing after the 1 mile WATP. Now, even though Tai Chi isn't exactly aerobic, I'm able to make it through the 1 mile and only really start feeling the strain just before the .75 mile mark, and end up considering the 1 mile WATP to be nothing more than a warmup for Tai Chi. This just floors me that I've come this far in just a month, *and* that the non-aerobic Tai Chi has done so much for my stamina and strength *and* lung function. It's going to be interesting to compare results when I go in for my next asthma measure/checkup in 2 weeks. :) I'm going to have to get the set -- if I've seen this much improvement with nonaerobic Tai Chi, just how far will I be in another month if I throw in some days of WATP as well? :bounce:

Anyway, just wanted to join the "WATP is cool" club and reiterate my thanks to WISH for helping me keep with it. I thought it amazing to be able to walk across campus last night. Being able to measure my progress compared to an actual mile marker was neat. :)

I'll join that club with you.

I routinely do the 2 mile WATP DVD most nights and add the 1 mile some mornings.

I find it fun to do and I hope that soon I will work up to the 3 mile.

Get the set and have a blast!

That's great news!

You can do it.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Welcome to the club! ;)

I am really glad that you enjoy the WATP videos. I was a little skeptical but I am so glad that I got them now. I really enjoy them and I am so happy that I have been able to stick with it.

Congrats on your exercise success! :)

Isn't it neat when you've been working so hard and you finally have that "AHA" moment, when you realize all your hard work really is paying off? Way to go!!!

Have you been doing Tai Chi in a class or do you have a video or DVD that you use? I've always thought Tai Chi sounded interesting but have never actually tried it.

I also never heard of WATP until I joined this board yesterday. Guess I'll have to look into it also.

Keep up the great work and let us know how your lung function testing goes. I have mild asthma and I'd love to hear that the Tai Chi has helped your lung function!

I think the WATP's are fun and easy. She really has the simplest, easy to follow moves and it allows you to get a great workout without having to "learn" the moves.

Now compare that to the new tapes I got in the mail yesterday. The firm was so confusing. Granted I was tired, it was almost midnight and I had worked all day, coached cheerleading, shopped at walmart, had to go back to walmart because I left my Credit card at home, then came home did a load of laundry and packed. I was tired before I even started. I didn't get a good workout though because it was so darn difficult! The moves were really hard, and by that time of night I couldn't get the moves down even enough to kind of sort of follow. I just stood there looking at the tape like.............are you crazy!!

I love the 3 mile walk, and have been doing that consistently since last Friday (except yesterday). I want to get the 4 mile tape next.

I use the walk away weight's that she has, and that really gives a good all over workout.

Wooo Hooo is right, Holly! Perhaps the board should start getting commissions from Leslie Sansone since we have so many WATPers!!

I haven't been able to find a class that fit my schedule and budget, so I've just been working with a DVD. I tried a few videos from the library, but the one I found and purchased that has been *excellent* instruction is Tai Chi for Beginners by Dr Paul Lam (I think it's Paul anyway). He's a physician from Australia who really believes in Tai Chi improving your health when done correctly, really emphasizes doing things to *your* level, and even though you'll fall asleep to his instruction if you aren't up doing it, his instructions are *very* easy to follow and really helpful. I'm about to order the second DVD in the series, "the 24 forms", since I've almost got the Tai Chi for Beinners set down. :)

As for the lung function, I think I can say it definitely has improved, even without testing with him. It'll be interesting to see what the asthma tests prove, but using my peak flow meter last night, I've gone *up* in peak flow by 25 points average, and I'm hitting 50 points higher than my previous average more often than I used to.

Holly -- I *may* be getting WATP this evening. The same friends who loaned me WATP 1 mile might be coming over tonight and said they'd bring me the WATP 2 mile to use until they got back from vacation, which will allow me to try it until I can get out this weekend and buy my own set. :)
