My concern is, again as a current investor, that you are taking away a schedule that is almost always running at capacity for an unknown. Right now, Disney needs all of the revenue stability it can get and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" certainly applies here.
Now, also as an investor, the additional capital expenditure for 1 OR 2 (or more) new ships would make good business sense. As I stated earlier, the larger cruise lines are doing quite well in spite of the economy & to properly compete, DCL needs to expand. Wait to try the different routes, however, untill there is a replacement ship for the current, profitable (?), route.
Disney also needs to generate additional revenue from the parks & resorts division overall & I feel that moving a ship (or sending a new one) to the west coast would help to draw customers to DL but still wouldn't take either of the current ships out of service to do it.
Personally, I would rather do a 7 day west coast US than the Med. I can drive to California to save on airfare, have seen most all of Europe & 1 day in each port just wouldn't be enough to experience it properly (try to imagine seeing Rome in 7 hours -anyone seen the film commercial with the 70 mph tour?!).
