Article about how Disney may be handling those who test positive while on vacation and do not have a mean to get home. i.e. they cannot fly back due to being Covid+.

keep in mind Disney is not stating this nor do the publish a policy of how they handling this situation. The article is covers itself with "maybe's" and "possibly's"

Personally if it is occurring it would make sense and allow people to safely quarantine as each of the cabins is isolated and has its own ventilation, but then again who knows they could also not be opening the any of the ALL-Stars because that's their COVID overflow.

It will not deter us from visiting next month as I view as no different than if my next door neighbor was quarantining his home. We plan to deep clean and disinfect our cabin when arrive first day regardless.

IF this is the case, it would make sense. I mean, those cabins aren't being filled currently anyway and that would be the best option to help isolate them while at same time not just kicking them out. Another reason I like my camper.

I guess i will be staying oit of the quiet pool in the foreseeable future.
Where in the article does it mention the quiet pool? That’s what I keep reading everyone complaint about but I see no mention of it in the article.

I was joking. It does not mention it. But it is in the middle of the cabins.
Ah. You were the 4 or 5 person I’ve seen mention it so I had to ask.

These are my thoughts. I’m not posting this to fight or argue with anyone and it’s not directed at anyone. I’ve just seen it discussed several places so I just wanted to share how I feel about it.

I think what they’re doing makes a lot of sense. If I were in the situation, I’d definitely appreciate it. Let’s look at this scenario:

You flew in from the west coast with your family. The day before your trip you were unknowingly around someone who had it. Now you’ve flown to Florida and day 2 or 3 into your trip you start showing symptoms. You get tested and are positive. So your 2 choices are to rent a car and drive back, meaning you’re going to potentially expose others or Disney quarantines you at the cabins. With the cabins, they’ve got a full kitchen and can have groceries delivered so they don’t actually have to leave that cabin and can safely quarantine.

I’ve seen the last few trips I’ve been down there what appeared to empty cabin loops so my guess is that they have a loop or two set aside specifically for this.

Lastly in regards to the quiet pool, yeah it’s likely on the honor system that the quarantined family stays quarantined. So yes there’s a chance someone breaks it and goes somewhere but that’s no different than at home. How do I know the non-mask wearer in Home Depot that just sneezed doesn’t have it?

In general, I feel much safer at Disney than I do at most places near my home

When we were there in mid-Dec the 2500 loop was closed and one of the other loops only looked to have 3 or 4 occupied cabins the entire 2 weeks we were there. I figured they just weren't that busy, but maybe they set aside a loop or two for quarantining?

Doing this in a cabin makes a ton of sense - i mean, we chose the cabins for this trip because we could remain relatively isolated in these times of covid. They are the perfect quarantine setup.

I doubt disney would place quarantined folks in a loop with other folks - we were in 2300, which was full, and there were constantly people in our "backyard" along the canal, walking dogs and riding bikes in the streets, riding golf carts which are open to the air - it would not be responsible to place someone they know is infected in that environment. Likewise, i presume they would not be allowed to use the facilities like the pool. There is always the question of whether they'd follow the rules, but i like to think so. Maybe I'm naive.

It isn't cool if you are not letting others know that are going to FW especially cabins that this is the case. If FW is going to do this then other people there need to know. Mentioning the Quiet pool, that's the pool we go to usually. I sincerely doubt they will be watched that they don't go the pool or other public areas.

I have a feeling that IF Disney is going to use the Cabins for this that they'll have 'stepped up' security patrols. And if they observe people in the 'quarantine loop' not obeying the quarantine rules I'm sure they'll be paid a visit or get a phone call to remind them.

I wonder if Disney's key card system is sophisticated enough to allow entry into accommodations yet block entry for the pool gates.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, just keep your distance is all. If someone has symptoms, then they will be sick and isolate themselves. If they dont, they probably will not be seperated anyway. Our town pool was open this past summer, there was no reports of anyone getting sick. The virus dies in chlorine, and beeing outside greatly reduces your chances of getting it.

So I actually know the answer to this question. I did a club level room at Boardwalk once and our magic bands didn’t work. The club concierge actually had access to the ACS (access control system) to give my band access to the club level door. I caught a peek and it is very similar to one that a business would use to manage “badge” access but of course much more sophisticated.

Hey, thanks! So sounds to me as if they DID plan to use the Cabins for quarantine purposes they could block access to the pools and possibly any other keycard controlled points of entry, like the comfort stations and laundry rooms.

All pure speculation of course. I think it'd be more likely they'd use one of the now-closed hotels. They already have hurricane 'shelter in place' procedures to deal with feeding and sheltering large groups of people. It'd probably be easy to 'tweak' those plans for quarantine purposes.
