Here is some general information. How to make the tags. Some examples of the different ways to embellish your tag and how to make the photo/journal spot side. And the different groups there will be. These really are easy to make. You can be a simple and elegant or as wild and bulky as you like. Because these will turned into books - you don't have to worry about putting something in the hole. No ribbon or eyelets needed. Feel free to ask questions.

These are just examples. I'm not saying these were any better than anyone else's, they were just easy to find in Nan and Mine's albums.

Due date is Tuesday, June 4, 2009. This is the date I need to receive your tags. Please mail by May 28th.

1. You choose your theme.

2. You will make 2 tags (so a total of 8 tags for your group).
• The Tags are 5” from the George Cricut Cart – the Scalloped tag. If you do not have a Cricut, please let me know, I can cut tags and there are others willing. If you have a Wishblade, I believe someone has the file for the correct size tag.
• Tags should be embellished.
• NO hand written lettering on ANY items. Please use computer fonts, rub-ons, stickers or stamps.
• NOTE: Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, ribbon/fiber, 3D stickers
(matted stickers/cliparts are okay too), specialty paper or embossing (dry/heat).

3. There will be only 4 people per group, so you can keep the production small per
group!

4. Special instructions:

• The tags will go horizontal for the book. (Tip of tag will face to
the left like we were opening a regular book)

• Use cardstock for the base of the tag and any patterned paper as an
embellishment.
• No need to double mat the tags.
On the front of the tag (w/ hole to left) will be embellished w/ your theme.
• On the back of the tag (w/ hole to the right) will be for a
photo or journal box.

• You will be embellishing both sides since it will be a book.

5. Packing Instructions - use a Ziploc for each person and put everything for that person into their bag. Please label each bag with your name so we know who made each kit. You‘ll have 5 bags to enclose in the larger (gallon size) Ziploc bag. - be sure to include your name, your DIS name. On the larger Ziploc bag please put your mailing address on your bag and include return postage.

6. Mailing Instructions- Mail in Priority Mailer & include return postage. The last tag book, if you were in more than 2 groups, they did not fit in a flat rate envelope well. Please keep this in mind. Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these. On the outside of your box/envelope please include your DIS name and Swap name in the bottom corner!

7. Please PM me with your address.

8. Most importantly HAVE FUN!!

So newbie here when it comes to this! The tags are like the Snow White one you sent us, right? We can use stickers like EK success on these?What about flat stickers from the Disney themed paper kits that you would get in the parks?
Can we add a Disney Cruise group?
The one thing I dont like is that this is due just a week after the DL swap.
I had to decide not to join the Epcot swap because I wanted to wait for this.
This seems to be sort of like ATC, or my type of "ATC".
Im really glad that there isnt too many swaps I can use happening right now.
I have to be careful cuz I know I would sign up for this one in many groups!
Cant wait for Thursday!:yay:
 
OK! so i missed this one last year, when my mom was sick. i signed up and someone had to angel for me. so i really want to do it, but a) can't decide which group to do and 5) i'm already doing the sports & dining swaps and don't want to overextend myself. SNAP- what's a girl to do????
 

SOOOO MANY SWAPS! How do you all choose? Do you participate in all of them. I feel like a kid in a candy store!
 
Thanks BAMB. I used last year's list which was groups of 5. I wanted to make this more user friendly to the new folks and dropped it to 4. I'll go fix that.


Yes Rita. The Snow White ones I sent are the size and general idea of what to make. You can totally use the park stickers/cardstock/paper pieces on these. I'll go put that on the "approved" list of embellishments. ;) These pieces, as opposed to regular swap items, do not need a set amount of embellishing. You just need to make sure what you make you are proud of, will put your name to and is something you will use yourself. You do not need to ink the edges on these to equal one way of embellishing. Ink only if you like to ink.



Holly, just sign up for a few groups. These really don't take as long to make as other elements. These are stand alone and don't even have to match each other.

In the beginning you sign up for everything. After a few years you learn to only sign up for what you will use or what you want to collect. :teeth:
 
so like if i do thanksgiving i make 4 tags and then i get a christmas, thanksgiving, easter and halloween back? and then put them on a ring?
 
I don't have the George Cart. Does anyone know is this is the same tag as on page 78 of the Plantin Schoolbook Cart? If so....I'm in. Will be fun to do something non-Disney and am always looking for stuff for the cub/boy scout books.

I'm not sure on that..don't have the Plantin cart... what we did last time.. if you don't have George...and the tag in Plantin doesn't work.. you can always buy the paper send it to one of us (ME if you'd like) I'll cut the tags and send them back to you..

It's easy and fun to do...but too many conflicts from here untill the kids are out of school for the summer......
this week is our calm week and the rest is total chaos!

They are not the same. Plantin' is fatter and doesn't have the rounded corners on the bottom.

I am willing to cut paper too. :thumbsup2
 
Thanks, I'll probably have to send paper to someone to cut. Buying another cart right now is out of the question with Easter, DH birthday, DS birthday, money for scout camp and all other expenses during april & may.

I'll be in contact after signups!
 
I have the wishblade file if anyone needs it. I will check again to make sure I resized it to the correct dimensions - I have tags from last time. I know on the zoo one I was off but I am pretty sure I saved it correctly for the rest of them.

Forgot to put in the OP, sign ups are Thursday - April 9th.

I will post the sign-ups before I go feed the puppies at 6am. But I won't be back on the edit the OP until I finish our routine which is between 6:30 and 7:00. I will fill the groups in according to who posted first. Just like normal. :)
