I know that I have enjoyed making the complete page immensely. Thank you to the orginal idea haver who suggested the first swap. :lovestruc

I also know I wasn't keen on making prototypes at first. But I have found I kinda like it.

So taking those two ideas and blending them - what about a swap where we take a basic sketch and work from that?

Post different sketches, a group of 5 swappers, you chose the group that the sketch you'd like to try.

Now, here is where I need your help.

Do you want the group to do the same theme for the sketch or chose different themes for each person.
Group A is doing a Higgens 5 photo 2 page layout everyone does winter.
Group B is doing a Hickman 3 photo 1 page layout picking MK, EP, DS, AK, or DTD.

Level of embellishing would need to be decided. We want everyone to have equal quality in return.

Any thoughts? Any interest? How long do you think it would take?

This sounds really neat...I'd be up for the challenge

That's a really cool idea! I love to look at sketches, but have never been brave enough to actually try one out. That, and as you've all come to see, I'm completely addicted to completed pages!! I think it would be fun, and might get me to break out of my scrappin' rut.

I am all over it.

Whatever you decide its fine.

I totally agree with deciding on the level ofembellishment up front. It might even be fun to specify a couple to use and then someone could pick there own. Like you could say it has to have some type of metal, some type of fiber/ribbon, etc.

I like the idea of the sketch layouts too. But I am getting backed up so timing would be an issue for me. I have a pretty huge stash of park elements, so I could cut back on a few of those to make room for this.

I would prefer different themes, but in the end it probably wouldn't make a difference to me. Some things I can use a whole group of -- like Christmas. I wouldn't need a whole group of Winter.

I would be interested in the Disney parks, general pages disney or other, and just color pages. I do like Susie's idea of the specified element.

How long do you think it would take?
Personally, it would depend on what else was going on swap-wise and in real life. The Halloween and Christmas pages are not taking me as long as I thought. One night to design each one, 2 nights to complete each one - -and if I could stay away from the DIS I could probaly lose one day in there!

We were given 3 months for the holiday pages.
But since we won't need prototypes, the sketches will be given to us, I'm thinking 2 months would be plenty of time. We could probably do it in less time, but there will always be other swaps going on that someone will be in.

I'm thinking October 1 sign ups with a December 1 due by date. I can get these back in time for anyone wanting to add them to a gift album or if you have Christmas time pages, planning your photo ops.

To specify an embellishment,do you mean like for Disney pages you have to pick a full sized EK Success sticker or you have to use a sheet of the smaller EK Success stickers? Or for color pages you have to use at least one yard of American Crafts ribbon and 8 matching brads, anyway you want?

I use sketches all the time, most of my Disney complete pages were sketches of some sort.

If you are doing the same sketch in 1 group I would suggest different themes. That way you don't have 5 back to back layouts with the same pattern.

What were you thinking for topics?

One thing you will find with Becky Higgins though, is that she doesn't use a lot of embellishments. So you might run into trouble there if you want embellies.

Along the lines of Susie's idea. In CK magazine they have that 3 -5 product challenge. Where everyone gets the same product and you have to create layouts for those.
Example:
Cardstock - any color
Patterned paper - coordinated with CS
decorative brads
rub ons

That way everyone is getting the basic element but everyone has their own twist on the page.

also if you are using the sketch would the swapper have the right to turn the page to make a different layout or do they all have to be the same. I turn my sketches, you get 4 layouts for the price of 1.

Turning would be fine with me.

Picking the same product might be harder as we all don't have access to the same stores and it's hard to trust on-line shopping would get to us in time. That was why I was thinking brand name as opposed to exactly the same product. But if everyone wants to try that, I'm game.

Because there have been holiday pages & specific park pages already, I think general Disney would be a better option along with color.

I think something like

patterned ribbon
8 metal objects (these could bebrads, eylets or photo turns
2 colors of textured cardstock
2 different printed papers
something has to be pop dotted

something along those lines would be great....then people wouldn't be limited to exacts but things would be similar

Yep, that's what I meant too. More of a general t"his is the type of thing you would use" versus an "exact duplicate" thing. Then the pages are different but still fall into the same guidelines.

You know I'm blonde.
I needed the spelled out version. ;)

I thought you wanted to name the cardstock & pattern needed.

I've done this type of swap before and it was the first and last time I used a sketch. :goodvibes

Seriously, this sounds like fun but I am swap swamped for that time period. I would be interested if this were happening next year but I can't. I can't wait to see fabulous ideas to scraplift, however!

Funny....I am not blonde (unless those hidden dyed grays count) and this is wayyyyy too much for me (I must not get into completed page swaps or I may never get to work again).

So I'm reading this out of curiosity and I must say,

This non blonde with an accounting degree cannot figure out the numbers of what you are looking for:rotfl:

Had to add that - back to your ciphering of elements and embellishments now. I'll read along for fun and look at pics later.........
